Le novità di VIA @ Computex 2003
Con la seguente press-release Via annuncia tutte le novità esposte al Computex 2003 di Taipei:
"Taipei, Taiwan, 22 September 2003 - VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, today announced a whole host of innovative new VIA processor platform based systems on display at VIAs booths at Computex 2003, in Hall 2 Booth E136 and Hall 3 Booth G300, that clearly demonstrate the versatility and suitability of the x86 platform for the Totally Connected lifestyle.
The twenty stylish systems target a wide range of applications that include connected home entertainment, mobile computing, communication, telematics, commerce and networking, and highlight the form factor flexibility made possible by VIAs highly efficient processor platforms and the VIA EPIA Mini-ITX series of mainboards. Also on display are some unique PC cases that illustrate how VIA platforms enable the imagination to be let loose in system design.
VIAs distributed performance approach to processor platform design harnesses the performance of critical media components, such as high quality digital video playback and crisp clear audio while enabling quiet, space saving designs that used to only be associated with consumer electronics, commercial or industrial systems, said Richard Brown, Associate Vice President of Marketing, VIA Technologies, Inc. The incredibly wide range of products on display at our booth speaks volumes about how VIA platforms are being tailored to fit the needs of the expanding x86 device market by providing performance where it counts.
In the home, digital entertainment is driving some incredible system design innovation, as illustrated by the all-in-one set top box from leading German system integrator 4MBO, and the home entertainment system from global consumer electronics firm TEAC. Innovation in the workplace is also on display, with compact thin client systems from Wyse and Gigabyte, and the palm-sized Microserver HP from NorhTec, as well as the Aplux Tablet PC for mobile knowledge workers.
Demonstrating how x86 architecture is breaking new ground in the retail, industrial, medical and many other worlds are the Dustproof PC from TVC, and the amazing DVD MP3 Terminal from YIS that is already at work in high street music stores.
One of the fun by-products of the VIA EPIA revolution has been the meteoric rise in popularity of case-modding, as these tiny mainboards provide the ideal platform for some real out of the boxthinking. Here too VIA has some great examples on show, commercial and fun, such as the truly remarkable Globe PC from 0809 in Japan. There will also be an amazing case mod that needs to be seen to be believed!
Also on show for the first time are four VIA Antaur processor based slim and light notebooks that target the mainstream corporate, home and education mobile markets. Features include integrated cameras, microphones, wireless connectivity and compact flash slots that are not usually seen on mainstream value notebooks. "
