per la lettura di dvd stranieri il problema può essere la protezione continentale, ma per soka il problema è che l'hardware li codifica con difficoltà, eppoi ha il problema anche sui divx: la cosa strana è che la sua scheda video ha integrata la codifica hardware, eppoi anche un p3 850 dovrebbe riuscire a codificare un dvd, anche con una SVGA Cirrus Logic da 1 MB (ne ho una a casa, stasera magari faccio una prova

).
io proporrei ancora a soka di utilizzare VLC media player, in alcuni casi è più leggero di WMP, magari risolve tutti i problemi...

Per la lettura di dvd con codifica regionale differente c'è DVD X Player.
Il problema dei divx è capitato qualche volta anche a me quando installavo singolarmente i codec (DivX, Xvid, ecc...): il problema hardware non dovrebbe esserci...
Tra l'altro, a volte i filmati scaricati in rete possono proprio in origine essere un po' difettosi (cattivo encoding), ma il DivX Player (quello originale di divx, ex The Playa) a volte riesce a metterci una pezza.

ok, grazie per i suggerimenti, ho messo prestazioni migliori come suggerito
poi ho usato cpu-z come indicato ed effettivamente il clock del processore mi da 697 mhz.

Ogni tanto passa da 697 a 850 ma di rado...

Poi vorrei sottoporre alla vostra attenzione anche il fatto che parlando via skype, la cpu va da 65% a 85%...non mi sembra molto normale.

Intanto grazie per il sostegno, se riuscite a darmi qualche suggerimento con il dump ve ne sono grato.
Ora mi trovo in giappone e mi pare che la regione dei dvd sia uguale a quella italiana quindi non penso sia questo il problema.

La m1 dovrebbe far andare bene i dvd anche su pII 266, leggi qua:

dunque il pc va piano o per driver, che escluderei, o per software che occupa la cpu o perchè ha problemi di velocità il sistema.
io proverei a vedere la velocità della cpu durante l'apertura di un divx e l'occupazione cpu senza programmi in esecuzione.
prova anche a fare un test di prestazioni della cpu con Sandra e a compararlo con le cpu di riferimento.
la cpu a 7x comunque dev'essere lo speed-step, dovrebbe andare ad 8.5x sotto stress

PS ho visto che CPUZ mi detecta i 512 mb di ram ma su un'altra scheda me ne vede solo 256, windows riporta 512 però ... boh.

non ho trovato i driver per xp, come pensavo...sul toshiba ho quelli per win2000 e girano benissimo con xp (prima con i default di xp non funzionava il tvout...)
