Preview GeForce 2MX

Boy, am I impressed with this card, and mostly because of the price. No it is not the fastest card we have ever tested, however it most DEFINITELY is the fastest under $150 card we have ever seen. Given that mail order retail of the Leadtek WinFast GeForce2 MX cards is likely to be below $100 within weeks of launch, that makes this card even more attractive.

And for those of you liked the Dual Head capability of the Matrox G400 line but found the performance somewhat lacking, the soon to be available TwinView GeForce2 MX cards may be a good choice. I found that the ability to use 2 monitors (or a monitor plus a TV) to be a great way to play flight sims, as well as do productive work. In doing web design, it is great to be able to leave the source code open on one monitor, while having a browser open all the time in the other.

The GeForce2 MX line is definitely a strong addition to NVIDIA's line. Up to this point, their "mass market" cards have always seemed to be cards that were 1 or 2 generations old. Now NVIDIA has brought out an affordable mass market GPU that is in line with the current generation products. This is definitely a strong step for NVIDIA, and one that I applaud.
