Dual Pentium III MoBo

All of the quality issues that Microstar showed us that they were utilizing in their manufacturing processes in Taipei is evident in the 694D Pro's performance. While it was a bit quirky at first, driver and BIOS development was pushed forward by MSI on a daily basis until they have gotten more than satisfactory results. The board does everything it advertises itself to do and more in my opinion.

Who will want to buy this board? I was amazed at the success of the BP6 more than a year ago as it created a dually system market that before did not exist. Although they are in competition, MSI has carried on this tradition in a dual CPU board costing less than $200 at most retailers. Couple that along with the falling prices of the Pentium III Processors and you have a winning combination. You can certainly put together the basis of a near dual 1GHz system for under US$500 to US$600 if you do it all yourself.

Would we recommend this be your maiden voyage with dual CPUs? Actually I don't think you are going to find a more forgiving board than the 694D Pro, it certainly made finding the sweet spot of our CPUs and OS very easy. If you are interested, Outside Loop stocks this board and builds pre-tested systems based on it if you want a little reassurance along the way
