Make sure you download the correct version for your computer. If you’re on Windows Vista, you will need the DirectX 10 version. For XP users, grab the DirectX 9 version of Lost Planet PC. 2. Speaking of DirectX, make sure you have the latest version. The easy way to do that is to start Internet Explorer, go to Tools and select Windows Update. It should automatically detect and let you know if you have the latest version of not. Alternatively, for DirectX 9, you can go here and download the latest version manually. 3. Lost Planet PC requires a Shader 3.0 compatible video card. For NVIDIA, these are any cards from the GeForce 6, 7, or 8 series. For ATI/AMD, make sure you have an X1×00+ card or later. 4. Make sure you have the latest drivers, especially video drivers. If you have an NVIDIA card: * GeForce 6 and 7 series owners can grab the latest drivers here. * GeForce 8 series cards owners can try the latest beta drivers for a huge boost in performance. However, keep in mind the drivers are Beta, so use at your own risk. If you have an ATI/AMD card: * Look for Catalyst Drivers 7.4 on ATI’s site. Ultima modifica di lowenz : 16-05-2007 alle 07:27. |

![]() http://blog.lostplanetcommunity.com/...1/pc_demo_info Capcom has followed a pretty aggressive demo plan with Lost Planet, right from the get-go. We took the very unusual, but highly effective, step of releasing two different demos for the 360. First up was the single-player experience timed with E3 (R.I.P.), followed by the multiplayer landmine that arrived a few weeks before the game was released. Now, we’re prepping a PC demo, which should come as little to no surprise. But what is surprising is the technical side of the demo. Actually, I should say demos. First off, we’re going to be releasing two different versions of the demo. Although both versions will contain the exact same content (i.e., no differences in the gameplay), there will be differences in tech. We’re going to be putting out both DX9 and DX10 flavored versions of the demo, both of which will weigh in at roughly 350 MB. All y’all gaming on Vista can send Capcom a big thank you for providing the first as far as we can tell only DX10 gaming experience for your still relatively-new OS. Make sure you download the right version when the big day comes! And make sure you’re running the latest version of DX, regardless. Go here! (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/xna/aa937781.aspx) Secondly, and more importantly to all you hot-shot overclockers and GFX junkies, the demo is also going to contain a system performance test. The test is an in-engine run-through of two levels of the game, complete with scuttling enemies, explosions and 3D meshes. The performance test checkety-checks your current FPS, average FPS, relevant system info (CPU and speed, graphics card, resolution and DX version) and, after a complete pass through of both levels, an average FPS for both the Snow and Cave sections. I honestly haven’t seen a dedicated system performance test included in a demo in quite some time. Last one I remember for sure was for Final Fantasy XI, of all weird things. I’m sure there have been some others recently, but I’ve been too tied up with my 360 to be spending much time gaming on a PC. Analyzers used to be much more common back in the day, yo, but you crazy kids these days tend to rely on products like FutureMark’s 3DMark (http://www.futuremark.com/). Granted, the LP performance test isn’t going to dig as deep as 3DMark, but hey: it’s free! So I say, let the battles begin! DX9 vs. DX10! Nvidia fanbois vs. hardcore ATIers! 1024 vs 1920! AA4X vs AA16X! Head into the LP PC forums and get your 133t on with flame-bait posts about your GPU-smokin’ performance. Make sure you list your rig’s specs, as well as your average FPS and graphics configurations so others can suss out if you’re being naughty and fibbing. I’ll go first: Dell XPS, Intel Core2 6600 @ 2.4 GHz, GeForce 7900 GTX, DX 9c AA = 0 HDR = High Texture filter = Anisotropic 4X Texture resolution = Med Model Quality = High Shadow quality = Med Shadow resolution = Low Motion blue quality = Low Effect resolution = High Effect quality = High Effect volume = Low Lighting quality = Med Display resolution = 1280 X 720 V-Synch = Off Concurrent Operations = 2 Concurrent rendering = On Multi-GPU = Off Snow: 35 FPS Cave: 41 All in all, a solid score. Snow is particularly particle-heavy, with a bit more draw distance. Cave is a tighter environment, but there are far more moving objects on screen, represented by a huge swarm of flying Trilid beasties (the ones what look like flappy trilobites, that usually spawn out of those icky wall-gripping pustules). I could have boosted the overall FPS total by tweaking some of the settings (such as turning the Anisotropic filtering to Trilinear instead, or reducing some of the Effects settings), but this represents the baseline visual fidelity that is my own personal preference when playing a single-player game. Now, when it comes time for the final version of the game to ship to Johnny Q. Teabagger out there in the Real World and we start playing deathmatch battles online, I’m gonna crank everything down to zero so that I move like Chow Yun Fat coming down the stairs of a Chinese restaurant. Pew pew! Pwnzrd! While we’re on the subject of DX10, the LP team is currently working on adding some extra enhancements for those of you running Vista and the new DX10 cards that support DX10’s latest-n-greatest Shader stuff. Those of you rocking a GeForce 8800 will see some performance gains in the final game, thanks to DX10. You’re welcome! |
