La taiwanese Leadtek ha sviluppato una particolare versione di scheda video NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra, caratterizzata da frequenze di funzionamento superiori a quelle di default e, soprattutto, dall'utilizzo di un sistema di raffreddamento completamente a liquido.

Il nome scelto per questo prodotto è WinFast PX8800 ULTRA - Leviathan; il radiatore utilizzato dal sistema di raffreddamento a liquido ha dimensioni particolarmente elevate, raffreddato da una ventola da 120 millimetri di diametro. Il waterblock ricopre la GPU e i chip memoria, grazie alla base completamente in rame che dovrebbe garantire la dissipazione di al massimo 180 Watt.

Le frequenze di funzionamento di questa scheda sono sensibilmente più alte di quelle delle soluzioni GeForce 8800 Ultra disponibili in commercio. la GPU ha frequenza di 684 MHz, contro i 612 MHz della reference design di NVIDIA, mentre per i 768 Mbytes di memoria video la frequenza di funzionamento è pari a 2.322 MHz, ben 162 MHz in più rispetto ai 2.160 MHz di default delle schede GeForce 8800 Ultra.

Al momento attuale non sono disponibili informazioni dettagliate sulla frequenza di clock degli stream processors; le schede 8800 Ultra hanno frequenza di 1.500 Mhz per questo componente, pertanto è presumibile attendersi valori ben più elevati per la scheda WinFast PX8800 ULTRA - Leviathan.

Prezzo? IMHO si aggirerà intorno ai 1000€, devo dire che il valore aggiunto di questa scheda potrebbe stare attorno ai 100€ rispetto alla ULTRA, quindi max 800.
OVVIO che sono schede improbabili come fascia di mercato ;-)

Ma fare un dissipatore in rame come Dio comanda no, eh? Pure sta ciofeca di radiatore ti devono rifilare per quello che si farà pagare questa scheda

...e questa "bellissima" sfufetta ultra over plus clocked, a quale modica cifra la danno? (considerando che la ultra è a circa 700 euro..)

Ma... ne vale la pena? Guardando le frequenze sono una manciata in più, quindi... quanti fps in più fanno schede così pompate? Presumo in rapporto alle frequenze, quindi quasi impercettibile la differenza in game.
il 5% più veloce? il 7%? l'8%?
10 fps in più su 100 giustificano un accrocchio del genere?

Tanto vale fare un bello sli con due 8800gtx . Sicuramente si hanno prestazioni superiori senza spendere di più .
