DDR is finally upon us, and Gigabyte is one of the first manufacturers to get a board here to the States. Overall, the benchmarks tell us that DDR did not make the impact we hoped it would. Most testing showed an increase of about 3 to 5% depending on the application.

Hardcore business applications showed a larger increase. In comparison to the Pentium 4/i850 platform, a 1.2 GHz Athlon/AMD 761 setup is very competitive in terms of performance, but especially in terms of money. At the lower end of the spectrum the Duron platform also receives some benefits from the 761 north bridge.
