Planet Hardware ha pubblicato la recensione della reference board NVidia GeForce2 Ultra overcloccata sino a ben 300Mhz per il core e 500Mhz (250 DDR) per la memoria; in questo modo si ottiene un Fill-Rate pari a ben 1200Mpixel/sec e 2400Mtexel/sec, con una bandwidth di 8Gb/sec. I benchmarks mostrano come in Quake3 Arena, a 1600x1200x32 si ottengano addirittura 63,4 fps, mentre più di 130fps a 1024x768x32.

The GeForce2 Ultra is a ferocious performer no matter whether it's overclocked or not. But it truly shines when running at speeds that are near what Intel and AMD's desktop CPUs throw down.

Overclocking may be hazardous to your video card's health, and it may not even be possible to duplicate our results with the GeForce2 Ultra you end up buying off a store shelf when they become available. We do feel that it's certainly fun to try and push the limits however, and we're working as you read this to attach a high-powered peltier cooler to our GeForce2 Ultra board to enable it to achieve its full potential.

We'll report on this experiment's success or failure as soon as we're able to document the entire process from start to finish.
