After the initial annoucement of the 815EP chipset, ASUS is one of the first to launch their 815EP chipset based mainboards. What I can draw from the test is that the 815EP is basically just a chipset with no integrated video. Generally speaking, this will appeal to DIY users. ASUS is one of the biggest mainboard manufacturer and they really deliver a performer.

I compared the benchmarks with the rest of the 815 boards available and found that the performance is superb. This ASUS board, be it CUSL2 or CUSL2-C is well tuned for speed. e.g. ABIT SA6R CPUMark99=42.4, ASUS CUSL2/CUSL2-C CPUMark=44.4. - a 5% difference. It is super fast !

The CUSL2-C probably needs a new layout in it's design. This is especially apparent if you wish to use large heatsinks, the Golden Orb cannot fit in too. There is also no RAID function available. The leftmost PCI slot also seems a bit flimsy, I find it a bit weird why ASUS used that ? Is it because ASUS is trying to cut cost? ASUS also removed the support the older Celerons.
