strano io ho fatto casini con paypal stasera ma oltre al messaggio di problema di transazione, che si è sistemato dopo 2 orette, non ho mai avuto problemi..
comunque pago con paypal per non tenere salvato il mio num di carta di credito..

se però mi dici che possono sorgere questi problemi inizierò a pagare con la postepay direttamente..

0. Preface

This thread is dedicated to offering a complete list of games available for purchase on Steam which have outside DRM associated with them on top of the standard Steam DRM.

Included with the games are the DRM schemes involved, the issues and hindrances you might encounter due to this DRM, and what you can do to prevent DRM from interfering with your gaming experience.

This list is user created, which means your posts and discussion provide the information that gets posted. If you know of a Steam game with DRM not listed here, or not listed accurately, please post and alert the community.

By moderator request, this thread is NOT to be used for ANY DRM debating, period. This is only for discussing the existence of DRM on Steam games. Additionally, mentions of piracy and instructions on how to pirate games will be reported.

1. Finding Games With DRM

As previously mentioned, this list is user created. Because of this, it is up to the community to find games with DRM. There are many ways to find DRM, and they will be listed here. It is suggested you try all possible methods of detecting DRM, as one method alone is not always sufficient (for example, Far Cry 2's store page lists DRM despite being DRM-free).

* The Steam store page. It will either be listed in the game details or the system requirements. CrazyTerabyte has also written a great userscript that identifies and highlights key DRM words on Steam pages automatically.
* Protection iD, a neat program that detects an unbelievably large amount of copy protection schemes.
* Checking the game folder itself for certain files. For example, SecuROM usually contains a "paul.dll" along with the game's executable file. However, it should be noted that this can only confirm inert files; the only accurate method is to use Protection iD.


2. Games With 3rd Party DRM

SecuROM
To remove SecuROM from your computer, use the Removal Tool.

* Age of Booty; Unlimited activations
* ArcaniA - Gothic 4; Unlimited activations
* Batman: Arkham Asylum; 4 activations per month. Revoke tool is in your Steam Tools section.
* BioShock 2; Unlimited activations
* Blood Bowl: Dark Elves Edition; 5 machine limit
* Borderlands: Game of the Year; Used for 2 of the 4 included DLC packs (shown below).
* Borderlands: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned; 5 machine limit.
* Borderlands: Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot; 5 machine limit
* Cities XL 2011; 5 machine limit
* Colin McRae DiRT 2; Used for CD check only
* Crysis; 5 machine limit
* Crysis Warhead; 5 machine limit
* Dark Void Zero; 5 machine limit
* Flock; Unlimited activations
* FUEL; Unlimited activations
* Grand Theft Auto IV; Unlimited activations
* Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City; 15 machine limit
* Major League Baseball 2K9; Used for CD check only
* Neopets Puzzle Adventure; 5 machine limit

TAGES
To remove the TAGES drivers from your computer, use TagesSetup

* Anno 1404/Dawn of Discovery; Activation limit removed in patch
* Anno 1404/Dawn of Discovery: Venice Expansion; 3 machine limit
* James Cameron's Avatar: The Game; 3 machine limit, 1 activation added back every 30 days.
* Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena; 3 machine limit, 1 activation added back every 30 days.
* Risen; 3 machine limit, 1 activation added back every 45 days.


Ubisoft DRM
All of these games have unlimited activations, but a constant Internet connection is required at ALL times.

* Assassin's Creed 2
* Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
* The Settlers 7
* Silent Hunter 5
* Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction


Uniloc

* Alpha Protocol; 5 machine limit, promised to be removed 2 years after release date
* Football Manager 2009; 5 machine limit


Other DRM

* Command & Conquer 4; Requires constant internet connection even in single player mode.
* Delta Force: Xtreme 2; Must create an account and "activate" through the game to play.
* Earth 2160; 3 machine activation limit
* Grand Theft Auto IV; Account-based activation with Rockstar Social Club
* Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City; Account-based activation with Rockstar Social Club
* Medal of Honor; EA account required for multiplayer
* Two Worlds Epic Edition; Proprietary activation limit (limit unknown). If limit is reached, contact support.
* Wings of Prey; Starforce DRM with 3 activation limit (additional activations reported to be given through email with support)


3. Inert DRM Files

Some games on Steam contain completely inert remnants of a prior DRM system which was removed (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky or Dead Space for instance) or DRM files which are not used unless you attach a DRM expansion pack or DLC to the game (Borderlands, for instance). The DRM files do nothing, install nothing and are completely inert unless otherwise noted.

* Borderlands; SecuROM. Is activated upon installation of either Zombie Island or Underdome Riot. Both The Secret Armory of General Knoxx and Claptrap's Robot Revolution are SecuROM free, and thus will not activate the inert files (assuming you did not buy/activate the first two expansions).
* Dead Space; SecuROM
* The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom; SecuROM
* S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky; TAGES. Folder contains TagesClient.exe and tagesclient.dat, but neither are ever used.


4. Activation Limits

Revoke Activations

* To revoke SecuROM activations, look for your SecuROM game here. The revoke tool should be listed on the game's page, if it exists. If the game is not listed, contact support.
* TAGES does not, and will not, have a revoke tool. Be careful!


Reset Activation Limits

* Anyone running an EA game with SecuROM "released after May 2008" who would like to de-authorize machines should have a look at the EA Game Authorization Management page.
* IvanDoomer says he can confirm Earth 2160's DRM has a 3 machine activation limit. Instructions to reset the activation limit are here. It can also be reset via phone support (phone number in-game).


5. Games for Windows Live

Games for Windows Live, or GFWL, is a Steam-like service used for multiplayer features, achievements and purchasing of games. There is a client, but it has little to no use when buying games and DLC on Steam.

DRM associated with GFWL is weaker than most above but still present, requiring online activation via CD key to access online services such as multiplayer and profile stats.

For single-player games, GFWL does not affect the game to any real degree, as you can play them with an offline profile without activation. Because of this, many consider single-player GFWL to not be DRM at all because it does not require any contact beyond having the packages installed; no Internet connection is required. Games falling into this category will be marked as such in the list below.

There are two kinds of GFWL activation:

* Server-Side Activation, or SSA. This binds the CD key permanently to your account, similarly to Steam. This has no activation limit on Steam, but Games on Demand (their online store) has a 5 activation limit. On top of this, a new GFWL feature has been added: Zero Day Piracy Protection (or ZDPP). This is their attempt to prevent pre-release copies from being played, and it can be applied to SSA games.
* A simple CD key check. This still requires an Internet connection, but it does not tie the key to your account. This has an activation limit between 10-20 (usually 15), similar to the usual Microsoft products (such as Office). If you hit the limit, simply call support to reset it.


SSA/ZDPP games will be noted when the information is available, and single-player/offline games will be marked as needed.

* Batman: Arkham Asylum - Single-player only. GOTY Edition uses SSA, regular edition does not.

6. Steam Games With DRM Removed

There are numerous games that have DRM in retail form, but do not have said DRM on the Steam version. There are also games that once had DRM, but it has been removed from the game entirely. To help cautious shoppers, I am adding a section for these games.

* All games from Telltale Games; SecuROM on retail
* Battlefield: Bad Company 2; SecuROM OR disc check on retail, SecuROM removed from Steam version in patch 522175.
* BioShock; SecuROM on retail, removed from the Steam version via patch
* Blade Kitten; SecuROM on retail
* Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3; SecuROM on retail, removed from the Steam version via patch
* Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition; SecuROM removed in 1.03 update, despite store page's notes.
* Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes; SecuROM on retail
* Mass Effect; SecuROM on retail, removed from the Steam version via patch
* Rig 'n' Roll; Starforce on retail
* Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory; Starforce on retail, removed from the Steam version via patch

Io sapevo che i giochi GFWL (almeno quelli Steam) non avevano un numero di attivazioni limitato solo per il fatto di essere GFWL, però potevano avere comunque un'altra protezione che metteva limiti.

Invece esistono proprio due tipi di protezione GFWL, quella che dicevo senza limiti:

se quando finoscono le attivazioni bisogna richiederle a Microsoft immagino non sia nulla di più semplice, anche con Windows ci sono pochi problemi.

Però se qualcun'altro può confermare il tutto è meglio, posso sempre sbagliarmi.

non avevo letto la domanda del tuo quote...

ovviamente a steam non gliene frega nulla se ci metti una traduzione, non è che controllano i tuoi file (e perché dovrebbero?)
potresti pure modificare tutti i file all'interno della cartella del gioco non succederebbe nulla

l'unico dubbio è sulla legalità in se dell'applicare traduzioni, ad essere fiscali potrebbe benissimo essere vietato modificare qualunque file del gioco (per quanto queste regole siano fatte per evitare la pirateria, quindi se ne fregherebbe pure chi le ha scritte)
per sicurezza meglio evitare link, che tanto uno se lo trova pure da solo, a meno che siano mod da aggiungere nei salvataggi come nel caso di torchlight, dove non c'è modifica dei file di gioco.

Per batman c'è scritto 4 attivazioni al mese quindi si può anche lasciare perdere. Per borderlands non so. Non sapevo neanche che 2 avevano questa limitazione. Mi dava si due seriali ma non mi ha mai chiesto di inserirli.

La parte in gessetto per come la capisco io è quando compri il gioco da steam allora c'è il limite, invece se lo prendi scatolato no.

per il discorso seriali in borderlands, mi sono sempre chiesto che utilità avessero, dato che non mi sono mai stati richiesti.. comunque ora vado a cercarmi lo stesso il revoke e vedo cosa succede..

io ho inteso che se acquisti quei giochi sullo store microsoft hai il limite di attivazioni (e probabilmente anche con la versione retail).

comunque ripeto: andrei tranquillo con microsoft visto che per riattivare windows non ci sono problemi, ovvio che se c'è un revoke bisogna usarlo (ma forse si può recuperare lo stesso), altrimenti te lo riattivano, mica possono vendere un gioco dicendo: lo attivi un tot di volte poi non è più tuo.

a meno che bisogna chiedere al produttore del gioco stesso, in quel caso bisogna vedere quanto funzioni bene l'assistenza (anche se nessuno potrebbe negarti di riavere quello per cui hai pagato, però se Microsoft funziona bene magari altri sono più "rognosi")
