in che cos'è che non capisci un cavolo?
seppure la ram è ddr3 a 1067MHz con processore è lento perchè la ram lavora a doppio canale, rispetto a quella gestita dall'i7 che è a tre canali quindi la velocità di conseguenza è più veloce, questo indice come tu ben sai non dipende da quanta ram ne possiedi.

Lavora sempre in dual channel...

allora se è a Francoforte non ci manca tanto prima che arrivi, cmq lo spettacolo è quando lo accendi cioè la bellezza è nello schermo poi viene tutto di seguito...fai conto che le prestazioni che windows mi ha calcolato "battono" tranquillamente un asus "repubblic of gamers" serie g71 con scheda gtx260m(vendibile solo in America), visto con i miei occhi perchè l'aveva un mio amico che se lo è comprato da là.
Comunque io sono rimasto veramente molto sorpreso dal mulitasking gestito dall'i7 e ti ricordo che windows ne vede 8 di processori 4 fisici e 4 virtuali, finora non mi si è mai bloccato ed inoltre per quello che mi serve cioè editing photo e video sono veramente contento...ovviamente devo ancora provarlo in maniera adeguata.
Ti consiglio vivamente di installarti win7 perchè è più veloce in tutto cito un es: nella gestione delle risorse che non è una cosa da poco...rispetto a vista...

sta storia degli indici vorrei capirla anche io (per quanto vale)..
soprattutto non capisco
1) come un SSD possa andare come un HDD.. o è l'interfaccia che limita o è davvero loffio.. magari meglio fare qualche test più valido che quello di win..
qualche consiglio?

2) come la stessa scheda video possa andare così diversamente..

Premetto che io sto usando l'RC di 7 Ultimate (quello home come aggiornamento devo ancora riuscire ad ordinarlo..)
Bios e driver vari tutti presi dal sito dell ad eccezione dei catalyst che ho messo gli utlimi presi dal sito ati (9.11) moddati e che spero vadano ben meglio di quelli ufficiali...

anche qui meglio fare qualche test più serio.. almeno un 3dmark..

per l'alimentatore/bios/motherboard ancora nessuna news dall'assistenza

Non diamo troppo peso agli indici di windows, vengono calcolati in modo molto approssimativo e sono molto sbilanciati

DELL Studio XPS 16 1645 i7 power problem

I've just received my Studio XPS 16 machine - what you would call a 1645 - in the UK. i7 720-QM, RGBLED, 500 GB hard drive, 4GB memory, 4670 graphics, BluRay burner.

PA-3E 90w power supply. Running it, and charging it at the same time, as Dell say you can/should do on first receipt, the charger got so hot it almost burned my fingers. They hurt for a while after I unguardedly picked it up ;-( After that, there was no way I would leave it on for 12 hours - I had no idea if it was OK, or faulty, and feared it might burn the house down.

So I Googled to see if this was a known problem, and found this thread. Hmmm - something to look at.

I have a Nikkai power meter whereby I can watch the second-to-second power draw, so tonight I plugged it in through that.

It took 65w just charging the battery, with the laptop not powered on. When I powered it on, it instantly maxed out at 90w; (23% battery charged) so I powered the laptop down again. Right now, 2 hours later, it's taking 24w powered down; switching it on it's 87% charged, and the power draw instantly goes to 90w to boot up, 'settling' to 65/75 w just to show me the desktop.

Synthesia noted that the CPU and 4670 could burn up 80w on their own, and I believe that.

But going back to my figures: Battery charging 65w. Idling with battery charged - 55w (~70 - 24). So idling with battery charging, by extrapolation; 120w.

Is 130w, even, enough when this machine is asked to work hard? I don't have Crysis, but I figure the Windows Experience Index ought to work the machine pretty hard, and not even all at once. Was I ever right! It shot up to 97w, fell back to 85w, went to 95w, back to 85w, up to 92w, and so on. Held at 90w for the CPU tests, 85w for the graphics tests, dropped to 65w for the hard disc (which pulled a solid 6.7 down to 5.9, chiz, chiz).

Now idling at 50w, 94% charged. I know it does the run-in to 100% slowly; so that 50w chimes in with the (70-24) from earlier.

I'd like to try playing a BluRay disc now, which worked before. But I just accepted an update of the CyberLink software, and now it doesn't work any more.... :-(

Well, duh, and now the keyboard backlighting has gone out.

Still, the charger isn't too hot to hold, though I do now have it raised on a perforated metal tray, not just on the floor...

Additionally, Dell is still trying to get info on what's going on. Plus, how does adding extra capacitors allow the to draw more power from an already overtaxed 90W adaptor? lol

Dell ha appena rilasciato una nuova versione del BIOS (A03) per il 1645, indicata come "Recommended".
Dalla descrizione non si capisce se sia legata ai problemi di alimentazione/throttling (se lo è, non lo dicono esplicitamente):

azz...allora è serio, in pratica conferma che un ali da 90w è troppo depotenziato (infatti si spiegano i 120w di tutte le altre marche) e che un eventuale 120w non è attualmente supportato dalla scheda madre, quindi urgono aggiornamenti anche in quel senso.
ma dove si trovano queste discussioni?

beh sicuramente è un ottimo notebook!addirittura un asus serie g71?? wowwwwwwwww.. domani credo che arrivi anche perchè è ormai a milano e fino a torino il tratto è breve! tu riscontri problemi con l'alim?

Supportato dal bios, imho i condensatori reggono anche 150w, non sono studiati per lavorare al limite...

ah.. oggi ho parlato con l'assistenza e risolto il "problema" che non mi faceva ordinare l'aggiornamento a 7.. tutto a posto adesso..

e confermo anche che la scheda wireless sembra andare.. ieri mi sa che era proprio il mio ap..

ahimè non ho preso la configurazione con il blu ray perchè ci avevo già messo il displai rgb led!comunque appena mi arriva provo.. diciamo che è risaputo che questo notebook monta panelli veramente tra i migliori ma avere queste conferme mi fanno trovare lungo aspettare fino a domani! posso chiederti che giorno lo hai ordinato?
