nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX / GTS (G80) GPU is expected to be released around November 6th (possibly 13th). G80 expected to be released on TSMC's new 80nm process and will be the first DirectX 10 / Shader Model 4 compliant GPU on the market. G80 is expected to feature around 700M transistors (compared to 278M in G71). G80 is a total core redesign over G70/G71 with the implementation of a Unified Shader Model, which processes vertices and pixels through the same dual purpose pipelines. The G80 architecture is expected to feature up to 8 TCPs and 128 stream processors and will interface to GDDR3 memory over a 384-bit (256-bit+128-bit) or 320-bit (256+64) memory interface. G80 is expected to feature SM4 support, improved SM3 performance, FP16 HDR+MSAA, a new VCAA Anti Aliasing mode (16X AA with a single card), 128-bit HDR and enhancements to the texture filtering engine. In addition to it's primary role as a GPU, the G80 will feature Physics processing via nVidia's Quantum engine. The cards will all be HDCP compliant and support dual DVI, VIVO and HDTV. The cards will also feature Dual Slot cooling and will require a 450W PSU for a single 8800GTX or a 400W PSU for a single 8800GTS.
The initial members of the GeForce 8800 range are expected to be:

GeForce 8800GTX - 575Mhz core, 128 x 1350Mhz stream processors, 768MB of 900Mhz (1.8Ghz) GDDR3 over a 384-bit memory interface, 7 TCPs, Hybrid water/fan cooler. $649
GeForce 8800GTS - 500Mhz core, 96 x 1200Mhz stream processors, 640MB of 800Mhz (1.6Ghz) GDDR3 over a 320-bit memory interface, 6 TCPs, Standard fan cooler. $449-499

G80 is expected to offer up to 2 x the Pixel Shader performance and 12 x the Vertex Shader performance of G71.





nVidia G83 GPU is expected to be released in November. G83 is a mid range GPU and the successor to the GeForce 7600, featuring the enhancements found in the G80 core.

nVidia G82 GPU is expected to be released in November. G82 is a low end GPU and the successor to the GeForce 7200, featuring the enhancements found in the G80 core.

nVidia GeForce Go G80M is expected to be released in November. The GeForce Go G80M is the mobile equivalent of the G80 GPU.

nVidia GeForce Go G83M is expected to be released in November. The GeForce Go G83M is the mobile equivalent of the G83 GPU.

nVidia GeForce Go G82M is expected to be released in November. The GeForce Go G82M is the mobile equivalent of the G82 GPU.

Io, per necessità immediata di acquisto pc nuovo, l'ho ordinata a 579 eurini spese incluse da un sito tedesco. Speriamo arrivi presto così vi posto qualche dettaglio.

Questo G80 a QUESTI PREZZI ammazza letteralmente tutto il mercato ati-ano....
Non ci resta che sperare che in italia seguano la tendenza teutonica sui listini.... altrimenti ordiamo dalla germania e via!!!!

Isolated issues with some GeForce 8800GTX graphics cards have forced NVIDIA to stop shipment on some launch cards

A memo published by NVIDIA has circulated through GeForce 8800GTX launch partners claiming some initial G80 cards have been stopped from reaching resellers. Parts of this memo were republished on Bit-Tech earlier today. Specifically, the memo states that some vendor (including EVGA) GeForce 8800GTX based cards will generate artifacts and cause the system to restart after 30 minutes to 2 hours of operation.

Other manufacturers are also affected, but EVGA was specifically mentioned as having this problem. Any manufacturer shipping cards based on the NVIDIA reference design is not affected.

The artifacts and crashing are a result of an incorrect resistor value. According to the document, a 50K ohm resistor was installed instead of a 30K ohm and results in artifacts during heavy operation. Nevertheless, the document recommends checking the MOSFET to ensure the proper ones were installed and replace them if necessary.

EVGA has released a statement to DailyTech claiming "EVGA has been working very closely with NVIDIA to correct an error in an early BOM list for internal testing, sample boards and a few review units. There is no issue with production boards and this will not delay the launch."

Several other manufacturers, including MSI, XFX and ASUS, have confirmed to DailyTech that their GeForce 8800GTX cards are unaffected and will ship at launch without problem.

DailyTech previously explored the performance of NVIDIA’s upcoming G80 GeForce 8800GTX. The card used did not exhibit artifact or restarting issues.

Ricapitolando il discorso pcb: è sicuro che tutti i pcb delle 8800 sono fatti da Asus, giusto? Il che vuol dire che che le schede saranno praticamente identiche, cambierà il bundle o magari per XFX le frequenze, ma alla fine sono tutte Asus, o sbaglio? Stavolta mi sa che prendo un'Asus

Vabbé, X fortuna che io sto un pc che ancora si regge in piedi e quindi potrò aspettare (nb ho un PM [email protected] 1GB DDR Asus P4C800 X1650Pro dopo una 9800XT 128MB defunta da poco) fino a giugno, quando tutto il casino di uscite sarà finito, quando si inizieranno a vedere cali X le gpu e quando si inizieranno a vedere quad-core a buon mercato.
