Matrox Ships RT2500 Realtime Editing Platform
Single PCI-bus card provides three-layer realtime editing and broadcast-quality 3D effects

Montreal, Canada - April 19, 2001 - Matrox Video Products Group today announced that the new Matrox RT2500 realtime video editing card has begun shipping. Priced at only £699 ex VAT (EUR1149 ex VAT, $999 US), Matrox RT2500 offers more professional features than any other video editing card in its class. Designed for corporate communicators, event videographers, and video enthusiasts, Matrox RT25000 allows users to work with two native-DV or MPEG-2 video streams and a 32-bit uncompressed graphics layer, simultaneously, in real time. Broadcast-quality effects powered by Matrox Flex 3D including particle effects, 3D tiles, distortion effects, 2D and 3D DVE, colorization, and transparency effects can be added on any of the three layers, in real time, with no rendering. Matrox RT2500 also supports all the input/output connections and formats needed for users to get the most from their editing system. Capture from analogue or DV tape is supported as well as output to tape, DVD, CD, and the web. "RT2500 builds on the incredible success of our RT2000 realtime editing platform that has won numerous awards and been delivered to over 35,000 users worldwide in just over a year," said Spiro Plagakis, Matrox vice president of sales and marketing.

"Whereas RT2000 is a two-card set that includes the video editing card and the Matrox Millennium Flex 3D edition AGP display adapter, Matrox RT2500 is a single PCI-bus video editing card that works with the display card in the user's computer system. With the addition of the RT2500 to our product line, we can satisfy our customers whether they want the display card included or not."
