Non comporta nulla, a parte il fatto che la scheda madre non ti rileverà la velocità della ventola e segnerà sempre che sta girando a 0 RPM.

quindi riguarda solo il sapere la velocità?
potrò cambiare la velocità di rotazione, naturalmente senza sapere gli rpm?

Riguarda esclusivamente il sapere la velocità...la regolazione di velocità (se ad esempio vuoi farla con un classico rhoebus) avviene infatti con controllo in tensione, cioè tramite i normali 2 fili di alimentazione si aumenta o si diminuisce il voltaggio di alimentazione della ventola (e quindi si aumentano o diminuiscono i giri al minuto). Tuttavia io non ho mai avuto l'esigenza di variarla in quanto erano già da sole inudibili.
