ok ci siamo... la causa è questa: aiutatemi a tradurre..
"Why does it happen ? nv4_disp.dll, the Nvidia display driver, is causing this in combination with Windows XP/2000, grapics cards and motherboard chipsets like Via and Intel and many others. * "It appears that this is all due to a BIOS setting which basically has to do with the way that the CPU and RAM communicate with XP and DirectX 8.1. Basically, PC components compete for system resources and the Video drivers give too much ram to the video card which is the root cause of this problem. Specific drivers have agrivated the problem for some (Such as NVidia's 23.11 Dets)". (DDR Zone) "So what does it do? It closes the RX55 memory register in BIOS. The RX55 register's official name and function is Memory Write Queue (MWQ) timer. The MWQ timer is actually a timing device included in the memory host controller to prevent write data being held in the memory queue too long. After the data has been in the queue too long it times out. This timed out data is then given a higher write request priority. Now that might sound nice – a bit of extra performance BUT the procedure fails when overloaded. 3D games and Win XP put too much load on the memory queuing timer procedure. The nVidia new driver exaggerates the problem even more as the driver enables nVidia cards to use even more memory than previous driver versions."

Let me know if this solves it...i am willing to bet that for the majority of you it just might. The 10 second lockup/freeze is the card throttling to a slower speed. Watch any games fps when you have that freeze, bet you see a lower fps afterwards. While fastwrites may be a compatibility problem with NF3 boards, I dont think the 10 second lockup/freeze problem is directly related to that with most people. I think its a heat issue/temp sensor issue. Here are some general things i would try though. First, do these things: Get powerstrip, and set your 3d/2d to the same speed, if they are not already. Or you can change it in your bios Next download rivatuner, and run the hardware monitor...and have it log to a file. STart that up and leave the monitor running in the background. Next run your favorite game that lags/stutters. When you see the dip/freeze, alt tab to rivatuner. Does the line graph indicating temperature dip, or is excessively high? Did the mem/cpu speed dip all of a sudden? If it did, your card just throttled. Throttling can be caused by a few things. If your card is overheating, then it will throttle. Yes overclocking heats components, and might have put your once "on the edge" card, over the edge. So while you may get 5 extra frames per second, you might get 10 extra seconds of freeze in a game at random times...just not worth it. Set your overclock back down, then rinse and repeat. Regardless of overclocking or not, it can be 1 of 2 issues. First, the temps are too high. Reseat the cpu, or send it in for rma. Yes this may void your warranty and i dont take any responsibility if it does. (You can try pointing a household fan inside your open case directly on the card.) If that fixes it, you know it has ot be heat issues. Second possible problem, is that the temp sensor on your card is dying/dead. Watch that hardware monitor for your onboard temp. Did it spike really high...or drop really low? Temps <25C have nearly the same effect for throttling as those above 100C (exact number unknown, sorry). The card in this case will throttle, and your game will skip. RMA is really the only way to fix this for some. As throttling will lower mem/cpu speed. My card would occasionally throttle one day and not the next. It was because my temp sensor was on the fritz. When the card stopped reporting temp(0c or 10c) the card would throttle...and then come back. I wouldnt notice that there was a problem because it would fix itself by going to a decent temperature. I disconnected the fan from the card, becasue it is controlled based on temp of the card. I dont know if it was shutting off, or just slowing down. However, after I directly hooked it to the PS I have not had a problem again. I am lucky because my card does not throttle the cpu/mem speed when the temp dips. It does however, slow down my fan to point that my card overheats. By putting the fan on the PS i keep my card cool even when it dips. If your card throttles when the reading is bad, then you really have no choice but to turn it into RMA. If you try this, and it holds true in your situation...let others know. My card is absolutely solid now that i have isolated the problem. It cant just be me with this exact issue with the temp sensor. con questo penso di potermi sbilanciare e augurarvi buon natale!! ![]()
