[PLEASE!!!!] Problema con XFree86 su Debian

Aiutate un novizio del pinguino, please.

Ho installato Debian su una macchina con chip video SiS305... il mio problema è sorto dopo aver installato X con XFree86. All'inizio mi dava errore nel caricare il modulo sis, che ho risolto solo rimuovendo il caricamento del driver DRI. Ora invece mi da errore il font renderer su alcuni font che dice essere già registrati con priorità 0.

Ho provato con il pacchetto xfs e aggiornando con dselect ma nisba. Any help out here? Thank ya!

Mi sembrano entrambi non-problemi...
il primo deriva dal fatto che il modulo DRI sis è attualmente non funzionante nel kernel; xfree cerca di caricarlo comunque, ma non ci riesce e stampa quel messaggio. Innocuo.
Il secondo è anch'esso innocuo; peggio sarebbe stato se era impossibile registrare i font...

ok, e allora...... erm che devo fare? cioè, come si carica il modulo nel kernel? e la storia dei font come la risolvo se mi impedisce l'avvio del server X?

Nulla, è tutto il giorno che provo ma non ho risolto. Mi esce senza particolar motivo subito dipo l'avvio, mentre con XFree86 o X si impalla proprio.

Credo proprio che dipenda dal modulo DRI, ma è necessario? Cioè, se lo carico con Load mi dà errore che non riesce a trovarlo, se lo tolgo non va lo stesso...

Cosa intendi quando dici di caricarlo nel kernel? Come devo fare?

come si torna alla shell da gnome? questo perchè gnome non mi autentica ne come admin ne come utente giofx (dice che non trova la directory xsession o qualcosa del genere...). Vorrei tornare alla shell anche per purgare wmaker che non mi serve più.
