Ubuntu + Ati 9800 pro problemi
Ho installato Ubuntu 8.04 e devo dire che funziona tutto molto bene... ho installato anche i driver proprietari Ati per la mia 9800 pro ma la scheda ha prestazioni bassissime. infatti:
1) quando apro un'applicazione OpenGl "lampeggia" cioè ogni 3-4 secondi la schermata diventa nera... 2) inoltre i video full screen su you tube si vedono a scatti... Ho sbagliato a installare qualcosa o sono i driver che fanno schifo?

Prova a disabilitare l'estensione Composite nel file di configurazione di X-Window. Il file dovrebbe essere /etc/X11/xorg.conf, se è "on" cambia l'impostazione in "off", perché potrebbe non essere sufficiente rimuovere la riga.

Quindi se esegui in una shell il comando xcompmgr ti viene restituito l'errore "No composite extension"? Un altro file utile per cercare di capire il problema è /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

Si può provare a disabilitare composite e vedere cosa succede. Per farlo, in fondo a /etc/X11/xorg.conf aggiungi queste linee: Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "off" EndSection Potresti prima di questo provare a disabilitare semplicemente gli effetti desktop. Puoi farlo dallo gnome-control-center o da linea di comando digitando: metacity --replace Ultima modifica di medicina : 16-09-2008 alle 11:35. |

Ho disabilitato il Composite e effettivamente tutti i problemi sono spariti... però compiz nn funziona + ...

Può darsi. Potrebbe essere necessaria qualche modifica aggiuntiva alla configurazione. Ma non ti posso dire di più purtroppo perché non ho una ATI. Seguendo però il link che ho messo qui sopra potrai trovare eventualmente tutte le informazioni necessarie.

ho installato i driver ATI gli 8.8
Il problema adesso mi è + chiaro ... praticamente compiz e i driver ATI nn vogliono funzionare insieme... infatti quando disabilito compiz tutto funziona perfettamente... Mi sembra davvero molto strano perchè sembra quasi che la mia scheda video nn sia abbastanza potente per vedere un filmato su youtube in fullscreen e far girare compiz... Voi che ne pensate?
