So, in an effort to boost sales, Intel is slashing prices of almost all of their chips. The most significant price cuts come at the high-end level, a move that is very surprising under normal circumstances. 850 MHz and above Pentium III chips are price reduced by no less than 20 percent, with the mighty 1 GHz chip falling by an astounding 42 percent (which, by the way, is now $268, a nice price to say the least). Even one Xeon, the "untouchable" processor in terms of price, is dipping in price - though it should be noted that it's a lower end chip in the line with respect to onboard cache. Most interesting of all, the new Pentium 4 line has seen its first price cut, at a relatively young age in the chip's lifespan. The three chips (1.5, 1.4, 1.3 GHz) have seen prices drop by an average of 20 percent. Check out the handy graph to see where your favorite chip has fallen to.
