A questo indirizzo è stato illustrato un progetto di overclock spinto: utilizzando una scheda madre Socket 370 basata su chipset Intel i815 è stata portata la frequenza di bus a 165 Mhz:

What are the advantages of running at 165Mhz? Front-Side Bus overclocks are much, much better than core overclocks, since your entire system runs faster.

Let’s use this example – say you have an AMD Duron at 600Mhz. You know it can hit 800Mhz, because you’ve used the old "pencil" trick to change the multiplier.

At an overclocked setting of 800Mhz using the aforementioned "pencil" trick, your AGP bus is running at 66Mhz, so your videocard is still bandwidth limited. Your hard-drive interface is still running at 33Mhz, and so is your audio card, modem and network adapter.

But when run on a Front-Side Bus of 133Mhz with a CPU multiplier of 6, you still get an 800Mhz processor – but this time, your AGP bus has widened to 89Mhz (2/3 x 133Mhz - almost 33% more). More data can flow through, resulting in higher frame-rates and an increase in all-round video performance.
