mouse inconfigurabile

Salve ho da poco installato una debian woody 3.0 su un vecchio p133, ma dopo aver configurato X nn sono riuscito a far andare il mouse. allora ho provato a riconfigurare tutto con il solito dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 ed ho impostato il mouse su /dev/ttyS0, ma niente da fare. ho provato xf86config nulla ho provato xf86cfg ma quando andavo su configura mouse veniva la schermata grigia con il cursore e li rimaneva. allora ho provavo xf86cfg -textmode anke lì impostavo il mouse, ma nn funz. allora ho pensato sicuramento sto fatto e ricordo male il mouse nn è su ttyS0 allora ho fatto mdetect e e mouse fermo nn mi dava nulla muovendo mi da
/dev/ttyS0
microsoft
allora nn sto fatto ho detto bene allora faccio come gli antichi :

mdetect -xv (sempre muovendo il mouse) ->

Sicuro che sia la seriale 1 e non la 2 ? Controllato i permessi e l'owner del device ? Provato a cambiare porta ? e a cambiare mouse ?? :-)

Sicuro che il protocollo giusto sia microsoft ? provato ad usare 'auto' ?

Piu' che postare le impostazioni del monitor o dei caratteri, sarebbe piu' utile avere info sui device seriali :-)

si sicuro che la seriale sia una, anke perchè con la slackware andava benissimo. ho comunque provato a impostare la due ,ma niente. ho anke provato a cambiare protocollo ed a impostarlo su auto. nn ho provato a cambiare mouse anke perche 5 gironi fa funziona su slack ora su debian nn va e nn credo proprio sia causa sua anke perche mdetect se lo muovo me lo rileva. e poi se faccio less -f /dev/ttyS0 al muoversi del mouse mi da tutti caratteri quindi l'input arriva.
scusa ma cos' l'owner del mouse?

Che mouse è esattamente?
cmq se ti andava su slack deve per forza andare anche su debian..
Se è un problema di permessi lo scopri andando in X da root..se con root va allora è quello il problema.
Sei sicuro che usi proprio XF86Config-4 e non XF86Config? guarda dal log nel caso..
