Sharkyextreme ha pubblicato la nuova edizione della "Weekly Cpu Prices", guida settimanale ai prezzi dei processori disponibili presso i principali rivenditori, on line e non, americani. Nessun cambiamento di significativa portata in questa settimana, d'altra parte Agosto è ormai alle porte e i prezzi dei processori non tendono a variare granché in questo periodo dell'anno.
Overall, Intel CPU prices have stayed pretty flat, just like the past several weeks. The only noticeable change is in the faster processors that run on the 100MHz FSB. Since the i815 came out, demand for these processors has likely fallen. We expect them to fall faster than their 133MHz counterparts from now on.

As far as Celerons are concerned, don't bother buying one faster than 600MHz as you can get an equivalently clocked Pentium III for about the same amount of money. The Celeron 533 FC-PGA is slightly more expensive than the 566 version most likely because it is easier to overclock. 533/66 = an 8x multiplier, multiplied by a 100MHz FSB gives you a reasonably attainable 800MHz. Of course, nothing is guaranteed with overclocking, but at $95, this relatively easy overclock to 800MHz makes the Celeron 533MHz FC-PGA the best bargain there is. At $233, the Pentium III 733 looks like the best non-overclocked bargain on the Intel side.
