quel test confornta uno xeon e un opteron...processori per server...quindi perchè specchiare la situazione sui desktop? inoltre non mi sento di condannare o osannare un processore per un singolo test...

Ma i test su anand quando parlano di "scalable" mettono in mezzo anche sezione disco e network

It can also test any combination of the above three entities

mi spiegate come hanno fatto a testare sta cosa?
Cioè hanno montato i tablespace su file system diversi appartenenti a macchine in rete? Mi sembra che la asserzione di veridicità di questi test sulle prestazioni della cpu potrebbero essere inficiati da n fattori

Sul sito EE Times parla Leslie Sobon ( director of product and brand management in AMD's desktop group ) dove afferma che il K10 Triple Core AMD sarebbe il 20/40% più veloce di un Dual core su alcuni programmi dove viene usato il multi-tasking:

AMD is positioning its three-core chip at mainstream users who do a lot of multi-tasking with typical desktop productivity applications. Sobon said such users could see performance gains ranging from 20 to 40 percent over dual-core chips, depending on the application.

"The Excel spreadsheet, for example, is heavily multi-threaded so you will see a bigger performance uplift running it," said Sobon. "But there are some productivity apps that get most of their uplift at the dual- or triple-core level," she added.

Sobon non specifica però se il dual core in questione è un classico K8 oppure un Phenom X2...

A parità di clock il Barcelona è più veloce di Penryn. A meno che non si usino le SSE4 (di cui non si conosce ancora perfettamente l'implementazione nel K10).

Il problema cmq non sussiste, perchè Penryn per ora è cloccato il 50% in più..

Per il 2ghz capirei un prezzo sui 500.. per l'1.9 direi almeno un 30-40$ in meno.

Dai bench che ci sono in giro, il Barcelona è più o meno un 20% più veloce del Clovertown a parità di frequenza (intendo in media, no solo fp)... e dal clovertown all'architettura Penryn non c'è quello stacco.
Per quanto riguarda le SSE4 invece, si vedrà.

lo so che quello è il prezzo x lotti da 100 cpu ma di solito il prezzo di una singola cpu non si distacca poi molto da quello di 'listino'

francamente 238$ in + mi sembra un po eccessivo.

a quel prezzo dovrebbero stare gli 8347
