Bush è stato rieletto principalmente per il massiccio voto di molti repubblicani che non votavano da anni e in particolare su temi di politica interna, prima che estera.

Vero, poi tc'è da tenere in conto che la gran parte dei soldati che servono in Iraq vengono dalle zone interne degli USA, da paesini sparsi su un territorio enorme. Inoltre molti sono green card, che se schiattano non fanno manco notizia. In sostanza in queste condizioni è difficile anche che si formi un movimento antiguerra omogeneo. Pensate se la maggior parte dei morti americani fosse di famiglie che vivono in grandi città, tipo NY o LA. Allora si che la musica sarebbe ben diversa. Comunque, nonostante tutto, l'opposizione alla guerra cresce, per fortuna.

Posto come ultimo anche questo,cioè i membri fondatori del sito "Iraq Veterans Against the War",perchè è interessante notare che sono di più "armi" (cioè Aeronautica,Fanteria,Artiglieria) ,alcuni sono come Millard ufficiali minori (Sergenti),che sono la "madre" della compagnia di solito negli eserciti di tutto il mondo e uno è Marine da 9 anni,quindi non novellino.

Isaiah was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and served along side Michael Hoffman, and Alex Rybov in the invasion of Iraq. He lives in Ohio with his wife and child.
Ivan Medina

Shortly after Ivan's return to United States after serving as a chaplain's assistant in Iraq he received the devastating news that his identical twin brother had been killed in action. Since then he has dedicated himself to ending the occupation. Ivan now lives in White Plains, NY.
Jimmy Massey

Jimmy was a platoon sergeant in 7th Marines during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. After witnessing first hand the horror of war he refused to continue this pointless war. After a hard fight he was discharged and has since been telling people the truth about the war in Iraq. Jimmy lives with his wife in North Carolina.
Rob Sarra

Rob , a 9 year veteran of the USMC, served as a sergeant with 4th Marines in last years invasion of Iraq. He supported the war before his deployment but after witnessing it first hand he joined his mother, a member of MFSO, in fighting to end the occupation. Rob currently lives in Chicago.

Certo,anche se per me comunque è preoccupante questo fenomeno di veterani che parlano così male.L' ultima volta successa era nel Vietnam.Nella guerra del golfo le lamentelle erano per esempio per di più dopo la comparsa del "gulf syndrome",ma non aveva a che fare con giustizia o meno della guerra nè parlavano di orrori che fanno e che gli fa tornare pazzi,suicidarsi etc.

P.S:In una delle foto si vede uno striscione "Gold Star families for peace".
Per i non adetti,Gold Star è la medaglia data alle famiglie Americane per i caduti al fronte,dalle 1 Guerra Mondiale e in poi.Mentre per i soldati vivi c'è la Bronze e Silver Star.Sembra che la Gold Star in questa guerra è magra consolazione.

Hai ragione,di sicuro è un fattore importante.Ma è altretanto plausibile che una guerra più "morale" li farebbe avere più pazienza (vedi 2a guerra mondiale).E diverso un padre che sente che suo figlio è morto davvero per la libertà e quarda la Golden Star con altro occhio da uno che sente che suo figlio sta lì per una guerra almeno discuttibile.
