Sono un felice possessore di un GC moddato con QoobPro (acquistato su www.chipmod.it).
Il QoobPro fortunatamente funziona correttamente e riesco a utilizzare correttamente i backup fatti su dvd fortis. Perfetto tutto ok!
Dopo essermi rassicurato sul funzionamento dei giochi, passo a vedere questi famosi homebrew di cui tanto si parla:

1. un semplice lettore mp3 di indubbio utilizzo
2. uno scarso emulatore n64 che riesce ad emulare bene solo due giochi
3. alcuni emulatori per i vari gameboy che al momento non ho ancora provato
4. emulatori per snes. Questo e' l'unico emulatore che funziona vermanete bene... ma c'e' anche da dire che i giochi emulati sono piuttosto vecchi a differenza di quelli piu' interessanti per N64
5. esiste anche linux su GC... ma a che mi serve? solo per i mame? Non esiste un browser web per linux su gc. Non esiste un supporto ad un ipotetico wifi: che senso ha utilizzare linux tramite un altro PC che deve rimanere per forza acceso? Non esiste poi un supporto per un ipotetico HD esterno: dove li salvo i dati elaborati da linux?
6. esistono dei giochini homebrew tipo per esempio pong o tetris ma sono veramente delle cagate assurde!

Invece vale la pena acquistare un QoobPro se:

1. esiste un player video (magari tipo Divx). Mi pare che su GC non c'e'!
2. esiste il supporto per wifi (magari tramite ulteriore modifica hardware). Mi pare che non esiste!
3. c'e' la possibilita' di collegare un HD esterno per i giochi, gli homebrew e i vari salvataggi (magari tramite modifica hardware). Mi pare che anche questo non esiste!
4. linux viene utilizzato per navigare su internet tramite wifi rimanendo comodamente seduti su poltrona in un salotto di casa. Vedi per esempio apparecchi per mediacenter. Figuriamoci se si puo' fare questo...sarebbe un sogno!

Conoscete altri homebrew che posso utilizzare sul gc e che non ho precedentemente descritto?

Ascoltate il mio consiglio: acquistare il chip piu' economico che vi permette almeno di utilizzare i backup.

ciao ho un problema:mi hanno da poco installato il chip vipergc sul mio gamecube ma alcuni giochi dopo che ci gioco per un po mi si ferma il dvd e mi da la scritta "il disco non può essere letto......consultare il manuale.....ecc ecc" e mi si pianta su quella scritta.
premetto alcune cose:
-ho la versione cobra 1.6
-masterizzo su tdk 8x a velocità non superiore di 1-2x

cosa puo essere????la lente del gamecube il chip????i dvd????

devi fare delle prove

magari prima tari la lente se il problema persiste provi a cambiare supporti (magari di diverse marche e di buona qualità) ed infine provare un altro masterizzatore

sinceramente vorrei evitare di mettere le mani sulla lente (anche perche nn sono molto esperto).Per quanto riguarda il masterizzatore o un pioneer e non credo sia quello il prob.l'unica cosa sono i supporti ho visto che con i tdk che ho i giochi partono tutti (cosa che non accade con prico e verbatim ad esempio) a questo punto dovrei fare delle prove con altre marche.

la cosa che mi sorprende è che il gioco non si impalla sulla schermata come fa ad esempio un ps2 ma viene fuori quella schermata che dice chi il gioco non puo essere letto ecc ecc.
lo fa con molti giochi metal gear final fantasy mario party 6 e 7 virtua striker ecc
ma non me lo fa con mario kart resident evil 0 e 4
cosa ne pensi???

Dopo aver moddato il gc con il qoobpro mi sono accorto di un problema molto strano:
nel momento in cui il gc mi chiede di inserire il secondo disco di resident evil 4, tolgo il primo cd e inserico il secondo, ma nel momento in cui vado a richiudere il coperchio del case il cd non gira e vedo sulla tv tutto nero...in poche parole non posso completare un gioco che ha piu' di un disco. E' un problema noto questo? E' capitato anche ad altri? Come si risolve? Premetto che RE4 e' originale e che prima di moddare il gc funzionava tutto correttamente (RE4 l'ho finito alcuni mesi fa).

I have made a small tutorial on how to create a new iso out of a existing one that may be giving lots of people trouble,DRE's is the main problem in games like Mario tennis and Mario golf and a few others,ready? here we go!

Tools you will need:
iso/gcm
GC-tool
GC iso creator
KEKSi FSTFIX GUI
Nero 6 ultra

1.) open up GC-tools,click file,then open iso,when browsing for a iso or gcm choose "all files" in the "files of type drop down arrow and then choose your iso or gcm image.

2.) go to the iso tab and select "extract whole iso"a window should pop up with a few options,put a check mark in "also extract header,apploader,dol and TOC"then click on the "extract" button and the program will extract the contents of the iso in a folder called "root" in the same directory as the GC-tool app,be sure that GC-tool is in the C: directory as it won't work properly on the desktop,this will cause crashing of the program.

3.) click exit on the extract window then file on the GC-tool window,then close GC iso and finally file and exit,now that you have your data files for the new iso you are about to make from the folder named "root" we can now open up GC iso creator,you will be presented with a wizard,here it will guide you will every step on how to create a new iso from a existing one that may be giving you trouble,

4.) click next on the GC creator window,put a check in "recover header information from iso"then click the browse button" choose "all files from the "files of type"drop down arrow,browse for your iso/gcm source image.

click next,now this can be a tricky thing if you don't use the drop down box once you browse for the application loader and the main program,click on the browse button on application loader section,browser in the root folder,then go to "&&SystemData" folder,now be sure to choose "all files" in the "files of type" drop down list,now you see all the files,choose the "apploader.ldr" file.

now do the same with the main program and choose the "start.dol" file and click next.

5.) now in base directory,click find and browse for the "root" folder that you made with GC-tool,now choose a directory where the rebuilt gcm will be located once it's done along with a name of the game,be sure not to place the gcm file in the &&SystemData folder as this will be the default folder that pops up when you browse for a directory to put the rebuilt gcm image.

the "maximize iso file size" option is already checked but you may uncheck it if it doesn't meet your needs,some may want to experiment with smaller file sizes as it may be better for your GC lens to read the game on a mini DVD-r or full size DVD-r as some say that GC Len's start to DRE at the beginning of the disk and that causes the game to DRE,this option i leave up to the person making the rebuilt gcm image but for the purpose of this tutorial,i will choose the "maximize iso file option".

6.) when you click next on the following screen,you will see a summary of all the files that will make your new gcm image,review if you wish and then click next,wait until you see a message that says "The base contains file names longer than the standard 8.3 are you sure you want to add those files" always click yes to this message as selecting no as this will bring you back to the "base directory" screen where you would have to browse for the "root" folder once again.

7.) it begins to build the new gcm file from the data files in the folder named "root' from your existing iso that you extracted to the "root" folder in the directory you choose earlier.

8.) when you see "done' in the window,click exit,now you should have a new gcm image in the directory you choose.

9.) now open up KEKSi FSTFIX GUI,it has to be this particular gcm wiper/fixer because some don't allow you to wipe or fix a full size gcm/iso image if it's the correct size but this one will warn you about the gcm size being correct but it still lets you wipe or fix it if you wish.

open up KEKSi FSTFIX GUI and choose the language of your choice,German or English,now click on file,then open,you don't have to fool with the "files of type" drop down within this program,it shows gcm and iso files alike,choose your new rebuilt gcm and click open,based on the file size you choose within GC iso creator,you will be prompted with either "image ok,your choice" if you choose "maximize iso file size' or "image wiped,should be rebuild! if you chose for a smaller file size,again,I'll leave this option up to you as it fits your needs.

put a check mark in "tweak align method(force all files on a 32k" check the option "auto detection and fix streaming files" for games with audio issues,if a game isn't known for audio issues,don't check this option as it may cause problems than fix them,click 3GB if your burning the image to a full size DVD-r or 1.4 if you are burning to a mini DVD-r,i made a full iso image from within GC iso creator so i will choose the "1.4 GB image as i only burn 1.35GB size images to ritek mini DVD-r's,KEKSi FSTFIX GUI begins to fix and or resize the new gcm file you created.

10.) once KEKSi FSTFIX GUI is done creating the new rebuilt fixed gcm file you can close it,now you have 2 choices,you can either stream it to see if it works like i did and it did stream fine,(the game is wario world by the way)or just burn it to a mini or full size DVD-r,use nero as the burning app,install nero ultra 6 if you don't already have it on your PC

I am going to show you a easier and faster way to launch nero into the burning window as this is more reliable as some people that are not nero savvy as others

rename the now fixed gcm image to .iso"DON'T LAUNCH NERO BY CLICKING ON THE EXE ON YOUR DESKTOP"
simply right click on the iso and you will see a menu pop up,if nero isn't in the list wich it probably isn't because you didn't associate isos with nero,just select"open with' then "choose program" then browse for the "nero burning rom exe in C:\programs\ahead\nero\nero.exe

you should now see nero burning rom in the list now,you can put a check mark in "always use this program to open this kind of file"if you wish but you don't have to.

now click ok,if nero doesn't launch with the burn window open and ready to burn,just right click on the iso once again,select "open with" and choose "nero burning rom" and nero will launch the burning window all ready to burn the image,the only thing you need to do here is put a check mark in "finalize DVD(no further writing possible) and select your burn speed,I'll leave this up to you as well.

make sure you have your DVD burner drive selected,some if not most people have more than 2 drives in their PC so you have to change between the 2 within nero if you are to burn a DVD-r or a CD-r,if you don't have the correct drive selected,nero will reject the image and won't let you burn the iso,if you don't have the correct drive selected,click cancel on the burn window,on the top of the nero window,click on the "recorder tab" then select"choose recorder" and click OK,you should be able to burn your iso.

download the software at www.paltalk.com create a name the same as on irc and use a email where a confirmation code can be sent,now when you log on,hit the groups tab on the paltalk messenger window and look for "computer high-tech" right click or double click on that group and you will see the room in the list,join and have fun!

P.S. I am in no way shape or form saying that this method will work with every iso or works 100%,just like every other method in the gamecube scene,nothing is 100%,it's just the way things are right now so get used to isos not booting or if they boot,they DRE like crazy,so try this method at your own risk,this means not complaining to me in the irc channel or on the forum, posting if it worked or not is fine but don't get pissed at me if it does'nt .

make sure you follow the tutorial to a T as i wrote the tut while i was creating a wario world iso and it booted when i streamed it with acl 1.4 and paradox disc server.

Salve a tutti, dopo averci pensato un po' su ho deciso di comprare un Max Drive Pro su CodeJunkies.

Ci sono tuttavia due aspetti che non mi sono chiari:

1) E' compatibile con i multi-game discs (compilation di più giochi su un disco)?

2) L'utilizzo dei DVD da 12 cm invece dei mini-DVD potrebbe sventare la necessità di ritarare la lente?

Adeso ho smontato il cubo e sto controllando che sia tutto a posto, ma comunque è molto strano perchè la modifica è stata fatta in luglio- agosto e fino adesso è sempre andata bene.

con il max drive è praticamente necessario
