[Thread Ufficiale] The non-tainted Kernel club

Ciao a tutti

Mi è venuta la malsana idea di mettere in piedi un club di gente che usa kernel "PURI" con soli moduli opensource, insomma, gente che ha il kernel "non-tainted"

Per vedere lo stato del vostro kernel (se è tainted o no) basta dare il comando :

Se la risposta è "0" allora siete puri, altrimenti siete il demonio

Il thread vuole anche essere un tentativo di identificare l'hardware che possa essere fatto girare solo da moduli open, senza il supporto di moduli proprietari, per questo ho pensato di far allegare anche l'output di lspci e uname -a in modo da avere un'idea dell'HW installato (magari specificando anche il modello della MOBO o del portatile che usate) e anche una lista delle cose a cui avete dovuto rinunciare per avere il kernel non-tainted.

Un esempio di post è quindi :

- Screenshot della console con "cat /proc/sys/kernel/tainted" eseguito
- Nome della MOBO o del portatile
- output di lspci
- output di uname -a
- cose a cui si è dovuto rinunciare
- OPZIONALE: output di "glxinfo" (la parte relativa all'OpenGL vendor, versione OpenGL e GLSL)

Al supporto a opengl 4 e al supporto dinamico per il power management della scheda grafica (uso i profili manuali e mesa accellerato , quindi opengl 2.1 + estensioni)

No, almeno negli asus con Optimus non esiste la possibilità di disattivare la nvidia da BIOS. Esiste allo scopo uno script e un modulo realizzati da Mark Ottman che permettono di ottenere ciò.

si lo uso anche io, ho un UL50VG però con la "cosa" prima di Optimus

te lo chiedo perchè da lspci non risulta la VGA nVidia, strano

A cosa ho rinunciato: grazie all'accurata stagionatura del mio hardware nelle nebbie delle colline parmensi, a nulla! Vabbé non esageriamo, il video mi ha dato grattacapi fino a qualche mese fa, ma ora è molto meglio.

Anche il portatile con Debian, poco meno vintage, non dovrebbe essere più taintato da tempo, ma ora è a riposo nella sua borsa ed è destinato ad uno scarso utilizzo, quindi, per adesso, niente dati.

Il pc pulce C7 (video framebuffer), invece, ha ben 512 (1000000000 - 9° bit) in tainted.
Valore strano, sembra si tratti di un warning... fosse stato 666 mi sai preoccupato un filino di più, ma ora dovrò comunque controllare da dove diavolo spunta 'sto valore...

Niete nouveau, come dicevo sopra ho preso l'ASUS perchè era il notebook che più si addiceva alle mie esigenze, ma mi sono dovuto beccare la nVidia che non uso mai. Pertanto con il famoso script la scheda è sempre spenta. Come distribuzione inoltre uso Debian che è quella che funziona meglio ed è la più stabile, in attesa di diventare molto più esperto di linux e di costruirmi la mia LFS

Ho qualche sospetto che sia questo il motivo.
Nel frattempo syslog-ng è stato aggiornato. Son passati vari giorni, controllerò al prossimo riavvio se ha ancora voglia di seminare terrore nel kernel.

Beh, il 128 è conciso e sincero. Però credo si avranno altri indizi che qualcosa è andato storto, oltre a qual povero bit!

AnonimoVeneziano Senior Member Iscritto dal: Aug 2001 Città: San Francisco, CA, USA Messaggi: 13827	[Thread Ufficiale] The non-tainted Kernel club Ciao a tutti Mi è venuta la malsana idea di mettere in piedi un club di gente che usa kernel "PURI" con soli moduli opensource, insomma, gente che ha il kernel "non-tainted" Per vedere lo stato del vostro kernel (se è tainted o no) basta dare il comando : Codice: [hades@artemis ~]$ cat /proc/sys/kernel/tainted 0 [hades@artemis ~]$ Se la risposta è "0" allora siete puri, altrimenti siete il demonio Il thread vuole anche essere un tentativo di identificare l'hardware che possa essere fatto girare solo da moduli open, senza il supporto di moduli proprietari, per questo ho pensato di far allegare anche l'output di lspci e uname -a in modo da avere un'idea dell'HW installato (magari specificando anche il modello della MOBO o del portatile che usate) e anche una lista delle cose a cui avete dovuto rinunciare per avere il kernel non-tainted.
