Driver Nvidia da kernel 2.6.15-686 a 2.6.16-1-686

Ciao,
avevo installato i driver nvidia per il kernel 2.6.15-686 sulla mia debian, e tutto funzionava alla perfezione. Poi è uscito il kernel nuovo ed ho aggiornato, da quel momento i driver della mia scheda video hanno smesso di funzionare ed ora ho kernel 2.6.16-1-686, ma per entrare in X devo mettere driver "nv", se metto nvidia non funziona niente e mi dice che non è possibile trovare il modulo nvidia.

Ora non riesco neppure a reinstallarli sulla 2.6.15 perchè non riesco ad installare nvidia-glx, mi dice che dipende dal pacchetto nvidia-kernel-1.0.8762 but it is not installable.

Come posso fare?

Usa l'installer nvidia ufficiale: fa tutto da solo!
Stai attento se usi X.org 7, perché è cambiata la posizione dei driver del server.
Devi scrivere:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762-pkg1.run --x-module-path=/usr/lib/xorg/modules/

P.S.: Occorrono i sorgenti del kernel

devi andare in /usr/src e cancellare il file nvidia-kernel-xxxxxxx.deb dopodiche reinstalli automaticamente i driver nvidia con
m-a auto-install nvidia, installi nvidia-glx e riavvi
Ovviamente il tutto con il kernel nuovo

Il mio non sembra andare, ho provato entrambe i metodi, ma niente.

Quando cerca di partire X mi viene fuori un errore e schermo con la bash.

Se vado a vedere l'errore è sempre lo stesso, quello a inizio pagina.

Scusa, se installi i driver scaricati dal sito nvidia così:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762-pkg1.run --x-module-path=/usr/lib/xorg/modules/
non ti da nessun errore durante l'installazione?
Naturalmente va fatto con l'ultimo kernel caricato
Posta anche il file di log di xorg e il risultato di
ls /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/

Non mi da nessun errore, ma se edito il file xorg.conf e metto al posto di nv, nvidia, faccio ripartire X, prova tre volte ad avviarlo e alla fine non parte, mi dice che manca il nvidia module.

Ora non riesco neppure ad installare nvidia-glx, perchè mi dice che dipende dal kernel-source-8762, ma il pacchetto non esiste.

Se do modprobe nvidia mi dice che è tutto a posto

Se do modprobe glx, mi dice che non c'è caricato il modulo.

Di .deb nella directory /usr/src/ non ne avevo, quindi non ho dovuto eliminare niente

Allora posta il contenuto del file /var/log/Xorg.0.log
e dimmi che file ci sono nelle cartelle
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/
e /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/

ciao! ma questa procedura funziona con qualsiasi kernel che ho configurato? Se ad esempio mi compilo ex novo un kernel (ad esempio il 2.6.17), con quella procedura potrò utilizzare i driver nvidia anche su quel kernel? o sere comunque l'nvidia-kernel adeguato al kernel utilizzato?

Ho provato a dare quel comando ma mi dice quasi subito che non trova qualcosa del genere "precompiled kernel interface...". Io mi sono compilato il kernel... come devo fare per dirgli quale kernel usare?
Conosci qualche guida semplice che spieghi il tutto?

E' normale che non ti trovi una precompiled kernel interface... ti chiede
anche se vuoi cercarla sul sito nvidia ma rispondi pure di no.
Per scegliere con che kernel installare i driver basta che fai partire
l'installazione con linux avviato proprio con quel kernel
Dopo ti chiede se vuoi che modifichi il file xorg.conf:
rispondi tranquillamente sì
