Purtroppo si è venuta a creare quest'assurda convinzione che il raspberry sia un pc a basso costo. Al che moltissimi pensano di star comprando un pc, dove colleghi un paio di usb, un monitor e hai un htpc.

Ho collegato il mio raspberry alle mie 2 televisioni con connessione HDMI (Samsung 18.5" e Samsung 26"). Su entrambe ho una fastidiosa cornice nera intorno al desktop che risulta rimpicciollito.
Ho provato a modificare il file /boot/config.txt overscan_left = -40 overscan_right = -40 overscan_top = -40 overscan_bottom = -40 Purtroppo non ho trovato la soluzione. Avete consigli? Come distribuzione utilizzo Debian. |

No, i firmware del raspberry. Se usate le mie immagini ci sono già le ultimissime versioni, altrimenti vi consiglio vivamente di aggiornarli perché neanche lo riconosceva il mio monitor prima

- Synced to 2012/06/08 - Disabled incremental updates, means apt-get update is much faster - Workaround for a kernel bug which hangs the Raspberry Pi under heavy network/disk loads. Il problema non è il browser ma il sistema operativo. Con tutte le possibili ottimizzazioni, linux+xorg non saranno mai efficiente come haiku o ad esempio minix.
C'è stata la corsa a far girare fedora, arch, ubuntu, ecc... ma nessuno si è preso la briga di verificare che succede con tinycore? Quella è una distribuzione che può andare veramente bene su un computer del genere. |

No no il problema è anche il browser, se si vuole usare un browser moderno sono tutti pachidermi anchilosati...
Comunque non sarebbe male provare wayland + chromium, quasi quasi...

Allora, intervengo ora, visto che mi sembra che a qualcuno il Pi sia effettivamente arrivato e si è cominciato ad usarlo.
Vorrei capire, da totale ignorante di questo mondo, cosa ci si fa praticamente con il Raspberry. Su Arduino un idea me la sono fatta, ed ho visto le realizzazioni più disparate (dalle insegne luminose ai sensori per trappole fotografiche e così via). Non ho visto invece alcuna applicazione pratica del Pi, anzi, ho visto sul sito un annuncio che parla di una cam che ci si può far funzionare sopra, cosa che io davo ampiamente per scontata. Mi sono abbastanza evidenti i vantaggi in termini di hardware/software, informaticamente parlando: molta più potenza elaborativa, molto più connesso e molto più "computer" rispetto ad Arduino. Non riesco a capire se sia invece versatile, da un punto di vista elettronico, come Arduino: insomma, posso attaccarci sensori, fargli comandare motori ed accendere luci, o utilizzarlo come "cervello" per qualche tipo di robot, magari comandabile in WiFi dallo smartphone? |

Hai una decina di general purpose input/output, ma scordati le librerie di arduino. Con il pi sei a diretto contatto con l'hardware, devi programmarti tutto from scratch fondamentalmente. Quale dei due è migliore dipende da quello che ci devi fare...

In termini di potenzialità, il raspberry può fare tutto quello che fa arduino. Solo che per ora non esistono tutte le librerie che esistono per arduino.
Siamo all'anno zero e bisogna quindi cominciare a scrivere codice su codice. Tra 2-3 anni potremo utilizzare il raspberry con la stessa semplicità con cui usiamo arduino. Ma il punto è che l'hardware c'è tutto e raspberry è un arduino superpompato. |
