AMD Introduces 1.33GHz AMD Athlon Processor, Delivering Uncompromising Performance for Business and Home Computing 1.33GHz AMD Athlon(TM) processor and DDR memory-based platforms outperform Intel Pentium(R) 4 1.5GHz processor-based platforms by up to 40% Compaq, micronpc.com among OEMs worldwide with immediate availability

At CeBIT, AMD today announced its continued industry leadership position by introducing the 1.33GHz and 1.3GHz AMD Athlon processors. The 1.33GHz AMD Athlon(TM) processor-based platforms with Double Data Rate (DDR) memory outperform the Intel Pentium(R) 4 processor-based platforms by up to 40 percent on a variety of benchmarks, including video encoding, audio, video and image editing, and 3D modeling and animation.

Systems featuring AMD's newest processors are available now from leading U.S. manufacturers such as Compaq Computer Corp., Hewlett-Packard Company and micronpc.com, as well as from top manufacturers abroad, including German-based MAXDATA.

AMD continues to build on its success in the consumer desktop market. Leveraging this success, the AMD Athlon processor has recently been selected to power commercial desktops from leading manufacturers - like Micron and MAXDATA - and is being used by top-level customers such as the Italian government.

Digital video editing applications realize excellent performance gains under the 1.33GHz AMD Athlon processor, as affirmed by companies such as Ulead and Sonic Foundry.

"Using this AMD Athlon processor with Ulead VideoStudio 5.0 yielded outstanding results in quickly rendering overlays, applying video filter effects and editing MPEG-2 video files."

"After testing and benchmarking in the Sonic Foundry test labs, we found the 1.33GHz AMD Athlon processor together with DDR memory to be an excellent platform for digital video, especially when used in conjunction with our Sonic Foundry Vegas Video software," said Michael Bryant, director of Training and Consulting at Sonic Foundry. "Specifically, we found the AMD Athlon processor-based system with DDR memory to be visually better than a dual-processor-based 850MHz system, in that fewer frames were dropped and special effect transitions combining two digital video sources could be played at a higher resolution."
