Come ogni settimana, Sharky Extreme ha pubblicato la guida ai prezzi dei processori, articolo che analizza i cambiamenti su base settimanale dei prezzi dei processori Intel ed AMD. L'estratto seguente analizza i prezzi delle cpu Intel, rimasti sostanzialmente i variati negli ultimi 7 giorni:
Intel Prices remain mostly flat, except for the OEM Pentium 4 CPUs, which have taken large drops. They're still extremely expensive, but don't look a gift horse in the mouth. The retail CPUs, which come with two 64MB PC800 RIMMs, are now quite a bit more expensive than the OEM versions. The extra memory, at least for this week, does not justify getting the retail box. However, the added heat sink of the retail box still makes us think the retail version is the better buy.

Pentium 4 prices are extremely high, but that does not mean we recommend against them. If you are doing certain multimedia tasks that benefit greatly from SSE2, the Pentium 4 can be a solid value. Also, if you're the type who buys a new CPU every three years or so, having SSE2 makes the Pentium 4 a bit more future-proof than non-SSE2 processors.
