Ace's Hardware ha pubblicato alcuni dettagli sui prossimi piani di AMD e MSI. Il core Mustang sarà disponibile sia nelle versioni a 512Kb che a 1Mb di cache L2 full-speed; oltre a ciò, le cpu Mustang faranno la loro apparsa in Novembre, mentre Palomino, successore delle note cpu Athlon, si vedrà a partire da Gennaio 2001. Le prime motherboard basate sul chipset AMD 760 MP, (Dual processor SMP, con supporto DDR-Sdram).

Per quanto riguarda MSI, in Dicembre rilascierà una motherboard basata sul chipset AMD 760, chiamata MSI-6341, dotata di supporto Ultra160 SCSI, supporto fino a 4Gb di DDR SDRAM a 266 MHz(133 MHz DDR), e supporto opzionale allo standard IEEE 1394 Firewire.

"MSI was present at the event, they informed us that they'd be shipping a AMD760 based board in Nov/December, the MSI-6341, supporting 266Mhz frontside bus, integrated Ultra SCSI 160, IEEE 1394 (optional), which would support up to 4 gigs of DDR 2100..."

Neat. This describes the ultimate motherboard. I mean, whoa. Fast memory and system interface, built in SCSI of the best sort, and even FireWire (well, hopefully that won't add too much to the total board cost, which could be pretty high to start!) alongside the ability to put a two fifty-sixth of a Terabyte onto the board! Sounds very good. In fact, this sounds like a serious attempt at making a workstation/server class motherboard. Every feature that this board offers (onboard SCSI, onboard FireWire, 4GB memory) is completely new for AMD platform motherboards
