Per testare eventuali blocchi danneggiati, usa il programma badblocks.
Per testare il funzionamento generale dell'hd, usa i tool s.m.a.r.t.

badblocks non mi ha dato errori.
Poi ho utilizzato s.m.a.r.t

smart -H /dev/hda e mi dice che ho PASSED quindi sembra tutto ok

poi ho fatto anche un


smart -a /dev/hda
mi da molti Old_age e diversi Pre-fail

Old_age = l'HD è vecchio e non è considerato più affidabile dal costruttore
Pre-fail = sono quelli che superano la soglia di guardia nelle 24 ore che precedono la rottura dell'HD


MI devo preoccupare?
non ho ben capito il risultato della tablle puoi aiutarmi?

Io consiglio di usare i tool forniti dalle case costruttrici.
Per sempio Hitachi/IBM fa Drive Fitness che crea un CD Bootable.
Controlla se la casa del tuo HD rilascia tool di diagnostica su CD bootable.

Se non lo sai tu dove hai il cdrom...in genere /dev/cdrom è un symlink al cdrom effettivo, puoi controllare se punta a hdc.

ma non sta su hdc
in fstab il cd rom è gestito in questo modo

/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom


ho fatto un umount /mnt/cdrom ma nulla.

allora forse hdc è hd usb anche se ora risulta
su /dev/sda1
