Se vuoi sfruttare i 64 bit devi utilizzare debian amd64 (non farti ingannare dal nome, va bene anche su processori intel). Su un'architettura giovane come amd64 ti consiglio sid, o perlomeno la futura testing (di cui non ricordo il nome in codice ).
Di problemi non ne avrai moltissimi se sceglie amd64, ma se sei poco pratico di linux o non vuoi assolutamente rogne vai di i386.

I problemi della 64 bit sono dovuti alla mancanza di qualche piccolo pacchetto proveniente da software closed oppure dalla mancanza di plugin proprietari, non certo alla mancanza di pacchetti standard.

La IA64 non va bene... (Carcass ) è quella per i processori della serie Itanium/Itanium 2.

Per le CPU x86-64 devi utilizzare la AMD64.

Pazzesco, anche i miei fratelli hanno lo stesso problema (hanno detto che lo fa col Centro di informazioni, ma forse si sono sbagliati)... solo che loro hanno Debian Etch (anche se credo non abbiano mai aggiornato niente da settembre, magari nel frattempo la cosa è stata risolta). Strano che lo faccia pure su Sid.

ma sto parlando di circa 5 mesi fa, e lo ricordo su debian e kde 3.5.
parlo del problema di konqueror che non mi visualizzava più le img.
spero non sia lo stesso problema ma mi pare che cera una soluzione.

non riesco ad installare piu gli nvidia nuovi

ho installato l'immagine del kernel e gli header del 2.6.18-3-486 poi ho riavviato e lanciato l'installer ma mi da sempre lo stesso errore di tempo fa, ho anche usato il comando
