Sono partito da qui , seguendo passo passo tutto quello che era detto, senza avere problemi nell'installazione dei vari pacchetti.

Ho installato l'ultima versione di hplip da qui

e ho configurato cups seguendo queste istruzioni.

Ho anche messo il file HP-LaserJet_1020-foo2zjs.ppd in /usr/share/cups/model/HP/ (come diceva un sito)

Tuttavia la stampante non funziona.

Dal pannello dove si configura la stampante (http://localhost:631/....) ho messo i seguenti parametri:
Location: usb://HP/LaserJet%201020
Printer State: idle, accepting jobs.
Device URI: usb://HP/LaserJet%201020

non so se sono giusti.
Chi mi sa aiutare?

Infatti ragazzi per me state facendo un po' di confusione...

Compiz e Beryl sono due cose distinte che fanno la stessa cosa, non capisco perche le installate tutte e due

Io stesso ero presente quando un tizio ha installato SOLO i pacchetti beryl-* e dopodiche funzionava tutto al volo (ed era una scheda ATI !!!)

Quello che chiedevo io infatti era se come si dice Beryl si adatti piu' a KDE (che uso io). Al momento non posso provare perche ho la 10.1 in crash con le mesa e a questo punto se non risolvo i primi di gennaio metto su la 10.2

Non ho esperienza in fatto di stampanti, pero' intanto ti direi se non hai particolari necessita' di passare alla suse 10.2 e poi vedere se si ripresentano gli stessi problemi

ciao ma usi la 10.1? se hai la 10.1 di default c'è xorg 6.8 o il 6.9 di server x ecco perchè hai difficolta con beryl perche non ti installi la 10.2 non devi formatta fai l'aggiornamento e i settaggi ti rimangono quelli che hai fatto con la 10.1 ?

Domanda : non riesco a trovare in nessun repository Adobe Acrobat Reader, che mi server installare per avere il plugin in FireFox. Siccome penso che si dovrebbe trovare nel repository ufficiale - non-oss, assieme Java e ad altre cose, dite che vale la pena aspettare che lo includano... o mi arrangio alla vecchia maniera?

Sarebbe il primo programma non-java che non installo con Yast o Zen... per dirvi come sono soddisfatto della gestione dei pacchetti e dei repository SuSE...
