Sul sito Tom's Hardware è stato pubblicato un articolo che analizza alcuni dei trend verificatisi, in questi giorni, in occasione del Computex 2001 di Taipei. All'interno dell'articolo sono state presentate numerose informazioni di vario genere, da nuovi chipset per schede madri Pentium IV a un'intervista con il presidente di Ali, produttore taiwanese di chipset. Qui di seguito sono riportate due interessanti puntualizzazioni sullo status attuale dei processori Pentium IV e delle cpu AMD:
If Intel can't generate enough support an volume behind P4/Rambus in the fourth quarter of this year then, and only then, does it make sense for Intel to fall in with DDR support. Intel has too much invested in P4/Rambus, and it is pushing down prices and trying to push up volumes in order to make its strategy a success. AMD doesn't have the capacity to increase its market share beyond a certain point so, Intel has time to play out its strategies before it starts to worry about AMD, or DDR, or Nvidia. It's rash to think that there will be any real movement by Intel to change course right now, or that AMD can benefit from the situation any more than it is capable of doing.
