The Tbird is about 3-7% faster than the Duron in our application testing. Business’s on a budget will want to really look at the Duron for workstations.

When it comes to 3d the Tbird was only about 1% faster than the Duron mainly because the video card is MUCH more important when it comes to 3d than what your CPU is. If you planning on playing games mainly on your system take a look at the best price/performance CPU. Currently the Tbird 800 or 850 is the most expensive CPU I would think about spending my money on.

Consider this. It was a Duron 600 that I did all of my testing with all the way up to 900 and 950Mhz! And that’s only a $80 CPU. The Tbird 700 on the other hand would NOT go over 900Mhz. That’s a $170 CPU. Durons are sweet overclockers. But overclocking is never guaranteed =( If you’d like a guaranteed overclock you will want to take a look at The Overclockerz store for their pretested CPUs. They’ve got Durons all the way up to 1Ghz for $155 currently! If your planning on overclocking I would give the Duron a chance.
