here's something weird about the english language I stumbled in recently:

I was reading an article about Barack Obamas speech in Denver, and it was written that after he was finished, confetti would have been thrown all over the stage, and over Mr. Obama too! And I was like this: What a waste!!! throwing delicious sweets on the floor!! And they could be dangerous to Obama too| I thought: are they crazy? then I did a little research, and I discovered that, for English speakers, confetti are made of paper! Yes.. they call that way those tiny things we call coriandoli. This is so weird: they use an Italian word but with a completely different meaning.

"Him" and "her" are also used for the animals which can speak (for example in the fairy tales).

"Learnt" is the past tense of "learn" and is used as a verb.
As for "learned", it is used as an adjective to refer to someone who has much knowledge.

From an English forum:

Learnt belongs to irregular verbs in British English, though I'd like to add that they were not considered irregular maybe 4 hundred years ago. Just the rule that existed at that time that let the language to have "learnt, spent, swept, meant, ..." is lost now, no longer exist. And this made them irregular. Languages usually tend to get rid of the irregularities at some point of time (however, at that time there always be new irregularities to be born), that's why we have the alternative "learned" in American English. I don't know about the acceptance of "learnt" in US written English, probably it's not. But phonetically, it's easier for a "d" sound to be replaced by "t" than the opposite way. So I guess you can hear "learnt" in American spoken English as well.

Mi riferivo al british ovviamente, con fonte da dizionario di inglese britannico.
Come puoi leggere sotto viene ben indicato il tipo di uso in americano ed inglese puro.

I tempi mi sembravano corretti, anzi, mi pareva quasi tutto piuttosto corretto, non mi piaceva "I had the same level...", avrei detto tipo "I was on the same level (of knowledge)..." oppure "Now i speak as well as i did in the past".

Oppure usare "degree" invece di "level".

Insomma, mi suona male, probabilmente è proprio sbagliata, credo che "level" (volendo usare proprio "level") vada sempre con il verbo essere, "To be on this level".

Per "learned", io non solo l'ho sempre usato, ma non lo ricordavo nemmeno nella lista dei verbi irregolari, sarò viziato dallo yankee.

Più semplicemente va bene anche: "I don't feel like an apple" (anche se sembra strano)

"Do you feel like a sandwich? Help yourself!"

"Ti va un panino? Serviti!"
