AMD Radeon HD 6800 Dirt 2, Battleforge Benchmarks Leaked

Dirt 2 and Battleforge (both DX11 titles) benchmarks have been leaked at PCOnline Forums (originating from PCZilla BBS), comparing the upcoming Radeon HD 6850/6870 cards to their likely competitors - the GTX 460. Both titles were previously believed to favour the Nvidia cards, thanks to its stronger tessellation performance. However, it is clear that AMD have improved DX11 performance, as the HD 6800 cards end up well ahead of both GTX 460s.


The two cards are titled "1120" and "960", referring to the SP count of the two variants, HD 6870 and HD 6850 respectively. The first benchmark is Dirt 2, Ultra DX11 at 1920x1200, 8xAA, 16xAF. The HD 6850 ends up 33% than the GTX 460 768 MB and a good 10% faster than even the GTX 460 1 GB. The HD 6870 is just as impressive, being 20% faster than the GTX 460 1 GB. However, it fails to open much of a gap to the HD 6850, being less than 10% ahead. Considering the GTX 460 1 GB's previous strong showings in the Dirt 2 benchmarks, on par with the HD 5850, these are some impressive numbers from the Radeon HD 6800 series cards.


A second benchmark relates to Battleforge, though the numbers are quite irrelevant as neither cards provide playable performance. The benchmark is a a 3-screen 5760x1080 benchmark, run at DX10.1 mode, comparing HD 6850 Crossfire to GTX 460 SLI. In numbers, the HD 6850 CF is 1.6x 460 1GB SLI and 3.57x 460 768MB SLI.

We have seen 3D Mark Vantage scores, and now Dirt 2 benchmarks. Weak DX11 / tessellation performance (compared to Geforce 400 Series) was one of the criticisms for the HD 5000 series. It looks like AMD has delivered with much improved DX11 performance with the first HD 6000 series cards. Performance in DX9/10 games is still an unknown, however. If the Radeon HD 6850 ends up under $200, as rumoured, it could be great value-for-money.

ero interessato a provare il CF, ma non sò (dall'alto della mia ignoranza) se sono troppo limitato da un 16x + 4x (p55m-ud2) volevo prendere due hd6850...qualcuno ha qualche articolo da farmi leggere oppure mi può sconsigliare direttamente la cosa per prestazioni scandalose della seconda vga?

Si con un 16 - 4 saresti limitato... ci vuole almeno una scheda che ti permetta l' 8 - 8

tra due settimane esce la patch dx11 per f1 2010...urge uan scheda dx11 ma voglio la 5970 per stare tranquillo almeno altre 2 generazioni!

Gianni un consiglio (se puoi e scusa l' OT) ho un amico che vuole cambiare vga e proviene da una 275, lo faccio aspettare per una 6870 o lo mando dritto sulla 470 gtx?

Non deve consumare un ciufolo! Sono un po' preoccupato per l'overcloccabilità a dire il vero, probabilmente la mancanza del secondo PCI-E implica che non si potrà overvoltare come le 58xx ...
