Eee pc e momo design hsdpa della 3

Salve a tutti... mio zio ha comprato l'eeepc ma usa la chiavetta della 3 md-@ per navigare... girovagando in rete ho trovato alcune cosucce su come installare il momo design... solo che dopo aver avviato il modulo usbserial con idvendor etc etc non ho le relativa periferiche in /dev... cioè non ho ttyUSB0 e ttyUSB1 da dare in pasto a wvdial.
Tra l'altro il pc la trova la chiavetta, ma quando provo a creare una nuova connessione, il momo mi viene visto sotto lan e non in GSM/3G(UMTS)/HSDPA...
Come faccio a dire al pc che quella non è una scheda ethernet???

Se quella scheda richiede il driver usbserial non è certo una scheda di rete...comunque non mi fiderei troppo di quello che dicono le gui; puoi allegare quello che riporta il kernel con driver caricato e scheda attaccata?

Per catturare i messaggi del kernel, esegui da una console:
dmesg > log.txt
e allega il file che viene creato.

Se invece provo a caricare usbserial senza i parametri vendor e product va...
subito dopo poi riprovo con vendor e product e nn esce nessun mess di errore... ma dmesg nn da alcun segno di avvenuto caricamento...
Il fatto strano,come ho detto, è il fatto che cmq il pc la penna la riconosce ma me la vede come se fosse un controller ethernet...

La sintassi di modprobe è corretta. Allega il dmesg come hai fatto prima, se vuoi che do una occhiata anch'io.

Se il driver è già in memoria un secondo modprobe non ha alcun effetto.
nb per scaricare un driver, usa rmmod

Riguardo al log che hai inviato, sono un pò confuso. L'unico dispositivo di rete che vedo è l'interfaccia wifi Atheros, credo sia quella builtin nell'eee. Poi vedo un dispositivo usb di mass storage -- una pennetta di storage o disco usb, mi sembra. Non vedo traccia di dispositivi seriali o dispositivi usb non gestiti da alcun driver.

No mi correggo, c'è un altro dispositivo non meglio identificato. Ma ti assicuro che per il kernel NON si tratta di una scheda di rete.

Cerchiamo di risolvere il problema di usbserial.

Tra l'altro come dice Slayer86 penso che sia proprio perchè il momo ha una memoria sua... ora nn ricordo però se nel pc era inserita anche un memoria SD... cmq ora nn ho il pc sotto mano... tra un pò vado a risequestrarlo... ...
In ogni caso... dico che la riconosce come una ethernet perchè nella gui appare tra i dispositivi lan... ma si sa che le GUI si drogano spesso ...

Un dmesg come hai fatto prima, ma dopo che il modprobe ti ha dato l'errore

Cmq nel frattempo ho girato un pò in rete... può essere qualche mlfunzionamento delle regole di udev? Lo dico perchè su un altro forum sono riusciti ad associare al nodo ttyACM0 la periferica senza dover fare niente... il kernel l'ha riconoscita appena inserita e l'ha associata a quel nodo la... nn riesco a capire perchè il mio nn fa la stessa cosa...

è...MOLTO interessante.
Quelli della Asus hanno castrato il driver usbserial, rendendolo incapace di gestire device con id impostati dall'utente.
Se qualcuno ne sa qualcosa di più parli.

Ti consiglio a questo punto di chiedere lumi nel thread su eee-linux, nella sottosezione sulle discussioni ufficiali, facendo presente questa stranezza su usbserial.

nb puoi allegare anche lsusb -v? Vorrei dare una occhiata alle interfacce del device.

Quelli della Asus hanno castrato il driver usbserial, rendendolo incapace di gestire device con id impostati dall'utente.

Posso solo dirti che quel coso NON sembra affatto un dispositivo di classe acm.
Anzi visti i vari "vendor specific" che si trovano, è un miracolo se funziona con usbserial.

Installare un kernel da sorgenti non è facile.

Non ho capito perché quelli di Asus hanno voluto castrare un driver perfettamente funzionante.

so che è una cosa difficile (soprattutto perchè nn trovavo i sorgenti)... uso gentoo da due anni (lo so nn si direbbe), ma il fatto è che mio zio fa pressioni che rivuole il suo pc funzionante e mi chiama anche tre volte al giorno... sa della possibilità di metterci sopra windows... ma io vorrei risolvere senza dover ricorrere a questo espediente per vari motivi... per questo da una parte voglio evitare di farci casini e perderci altro tempo...

La soluzione a detta dell'autore è stata copiata da altro forum. Probabilmente non per eee con xandros, perché abbiamo verificato che il tuo usbserial è castrato.

so che nn c'è la soluzione nel primo link... ma sono riusciti a risolvere... hanno solo messo la penna, questa è stata riconosciuta come ttyACM0 e è stat messo nel file di configurazione di wvdial...
quindi che posso fare?

E' un bel problema.

Se riesci a rintracciare i sorgenti _completi_ del kernel (non quelli farlocchi che Asus aveva pubblicato inizialmente), ci si può lavorare. Anche gli header pronti per la compilazione di driver esterni potrebbero andarci bene, se riesci a trovarli. Se vieni da Gentoo non dovresti essere completamente digiuno su questi argomenti.

Altra soluzione (e per questo devi vedere le informazioni dell'altro thread) è installare una distribuzione diversa, ma verifica bene la compatibilità con il dispositivo wifi (non ho ben capito se la Asus ne ha rilasciato i sorgenti o anche questa volta si è "scordata").

mmm... i sorgenti penso di averli trovati... ma la cosa che mi stizza è che quello sul forum dell'eeepc che ti ho linkato l'ha fatta funzionare senza problemi...
Alla fine sto pensando che visto che cmq la riconosce (ora ti posto lo screen shot in basso), penso che basti capire a quale nodo lo associa nella dir /dev... o è una boiata???
