problemi di accesso a Windows XP dal dual boot

Ciao a tutti,
ho un pc Dell con due partizioni una WinXP e l'altra Linux. Il pc si accende e effettua il dual boot predefinito di accesso in Win XP, lo avvia e poi si blocca (la ventola prende velocità, si sente come un piccolo scatto, poi rallenta) e si spegne da solo, poi si riavvia da solo ed effettua la stessa cosa. Se nel dual boot seleziono Linux si avvia normalmente. Facendo una manutenzione dal setup, la ventola corre alla velocità normale quindi sembra che non abbia problemi! Non si capisce cosa gli impedisca di avviare regolarmente Win XP.
Qualcuno mi può aiutare?

Dato che Linux si avvia direi di escludere problemi hardware.

Quando Xp non si avvia lo schermo e' completamente nero oppure c'e' un messaggio di errore?

Quale e' stata l'ultima cosa che hai fatto prima che Xp non si avviasse piu'?

io ho un problema simile e quindi sfrutto il thread aperto senza farne uno nuovo.

Ieri ho installato ubuntu insieme a windowsXP,
all'inizio era tutto ok, poi però, dopo vari smanettamenti di cui non ricordo il dettaglio, mi trovo adesso che alla partenza di grub se seleziono windowsXP si riavvia il computer e mi ritrovo di nuovo con grub avanti.
Se invece seleziono ubuntu si avvia regolarmente.

Qualcuno saprebbe aiutarmi ? (sono stufo di reinstallare tutto dall'inizio)

risolto a modo mio....
reinstallato Windows con disco di configurazione e opzione di ripristino (avevo provato supergrub ma non aveva portato a nulla).
