a parte che per me conta più salvare una persona che 1kmq di terra... comunque a fukushima 2 hanno già ridotto l'area di sicurezza e tempo qualche anno bonificheranno anche il resto... la zona veramente pericolosa è a 4-5km dai reattori mica 40km

fukushima2 è fukushima-daini, di cui s'è parlato pochissimo nonostante evidentemente ci siano stati rilasci e rischi ingenti. Erano evacuati 10km ed ora sono scesi a 8km.

Per Fukushima-daichi (quella dei 4 reattori fuori controllo) la situazione è e resta la stessa, e l'evacuazione è giunta fino a 40km

Intanto le radiazioni nella zona continuano a salire ed i lavoratori continuano ad assorbirne quantità da cavallo.

Workers at a nuclear power plant damaged by last month's earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan's northeast continued battling to deal with radioactive water Saturday as the radiation exposures they receive are constantly increasing.

One more worker is found to have been exposed to radiation of over 100 millisieverts, bringing to 30 the total number of people with that dosage or more while addressing the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi plant since the March 11 disasters, sources familiar with the situation said.

Plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. says workers and engineers exposed to radiation close to 200 millisieverts are switched to jobs facing risk of receiving lower levels of contamination.

E' il livello di radiazioni della zona o il computo di radiazioni assorbito dai tecnici ad aumentare? Finchè lavorano lì che il livello sia alto o basso il computo di radiazioni che si sono beccati da inizio crisi continua a salire per forza.

Intanto i sondaggi parlano di un Giappone abbastanza indeciso sul cosa fare con il nucleare (presente e futuro).

Of 46 local governments hosting or located close to current and future nuclear power plants in Japan, 41 percent said they will await further public and government discussions before deciding on their stance toward the future of atomic power plants in their respective neighborhoods, a Kyodo News poll showed Saturday.

The number was slightly above the 37 percent of respondents who said they will allow the nuclear plants to continue to operate ''with conditions,'' showing that many are unsure about what position to take amid an ongoing nuclear crisis at the radiation-leaking Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant and uncertainty about the central government's energy policy.

Only Minamisoma and Namie in Fukushima Prefecture, where a nuclear power plant is planned to be built straddling the two municipalities and whose residents must evacuate due to the nuclear crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex, said plants should ''be decommissioned immediately without any conditions.''

Heat exchanger for No1 reactor considered

The Tokyo Electric Power Company is thinking about setting up a heat exchanger to hasten the full-scale recovery of the cooling system at the Number 1 reactor of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

TEPCO says 70 percent of the fuel is apparently damaged and 6 tons of water per hour is being injected into the reactor.

In order to cool it under more stable conditions, TEPCO wants the water level in the containment vessel to reach the height of the fuel rods.

At present, the water level is estimated to be about 6 meters from the bottom of the containment vessel.

Two plans have been considered to cool the vessel, one uses sea water, the other air.

To avoid the risk of further damage from possible aftershocks TEPCO is favoring the water system.

It says the pipes which connect the containment vessel and the heat exchanger must be quake protected. In addition, radioactive substances must be removed before pouring contaminated water into the heat exchanger.

These tasks should be done inside the nuclear reactor building but as the level of radioactivity is too high for human entry, many problems remain before the heat exchanger can be set up.

Abandoned farm animals

Fukushima Prefecture has launched an operation to euthanize some of the animals left in the 20-kilometer no-entry zone around the troubled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

Six Fukushima officials, including veterinarians, entered the area on Monday, the first day of the mission.

The no-go zone has more than 370 livestock farms containing 4,000 cattle, 30,000 pigs, 630,000 chickens and 100 horses. But many of these animals have died or are facing starvation since their owners evacuated, and some remain outdoors.

The prefecture plans to euthanize the weakened animals, return those grazing outside to barns, and disinfect the carcasses of the dead ones.

The prefecture says it will not kill any animals unless their owners agree, as there is no current law stipulating what should be done in such a situation.

It will conduct the work through the end of May, while discussing with the central government ways to compensate the animals' owners.

A veterinarian taking part in the mission said the work will begin with medical examinations of the animals in the area.

La cosa simpatica è che usano il termine "eutanasia" al posto di "abbattimento" come se glielo avessero chiesto gli animali. Quelli allo stato brado non credo proprio, sembrano "in salute". Più che altro quei porelli che sono rimasti chiusi nelle stalle a morire di fame.
Anche i jappi stanno per impiegare i loro robottini che sanno salire le scale, saltare sui detriti, fare il caffè... e si puliscono da soli!
Riguardo la piastrella dell'altro post, visto che poi non si è spiegato: tra i detriti vicini all'edificio del reattore 3 è stata raccolta 'sta piastra che emanava "solo" 900mSv/h (milli, non micro).

... quindi quasi 1 Sv/h!... ma è tantissimo!...

tepco deve solo vergognarsi... almeno potevano rinchiuderli tutti nella zona anzichè ammazzarli...

e della piastra cosa pensano di fare?

Le alternative sono abbastanza limitate.
Per alcuni animali è comunque la fine perché una mucca da latte non campa se non ha qualcuno che la munge e le da da mangiare.
In compenso una certa quantità di cani e gatti in libertà tornerà presto ad essere selvaggia, con tutti i risultati del caso (branchi di cani che assalgono animali & co).

In coda gli animali abbattuti dovrebbero comunque essere "coperti" dallo Stato, nel senso che il proprietario dovrebbe ricevere una somma pari al valore dell'animale.

Per il resto:
1. non capisco perché usare veterinari e farmaci quando è più pratico usare normali armi da fuoco.
2. a meno di non portarsi dietro i veicoli per riportare indietro le carcasse (da bruciare negli inceneritori) si rischia di fare più problemi di quanti già non ce ne siano adesso.

No, ma dal veterinario male che vada devi abbattere una decina d'animali a settimana... qui si parla di sterminare allevamenti.
