si scusi la mia niubbaggine...2 domandine anzi 3...
questi driver sono quelli che si possono scaricare direttamente dal sito Nvidia, un file .run se non sbaglio... vero? le release precedenti prevedevano quell'interfaccia che si vede nell'articolo? perchè io ho gli 1.0.8xx e quella schermata mi manca... (oppure può anche essere che non sappia dove andarla a prendere, in questo caso  )esiste/esisterà un pacchetto per installarli? sono ancora troppo impedito per mettermi a compilare i moduli del kernel...

1) sì
2) per avere quella schermata esegui nvidia-settings una volta installati i driver 3) dipende dalla distro. ad ogni modo con l'installer testuale non è che sia difficile, ti basta avere xorg-dev, gcc e gli headers del kernel.
