dopo i miei ultimi problemi con NFS Pro Street (il gioco non ne vuole sapere di funzionare correttamente) e dopo aver letto post in MOLTISSIMI forum in giro per il pianeta mi sono fatto un pò di "cultura" sugli ultimi Catalyst rilasciati ...


la verità è una ed una sola (anzi ... detto alla romana ... "una SO'LA") ... ATI ha abbandonato il supporto per le nostre schede AGP ... questo quanto si evince nelle varie "release notes" ricercando "1950" all'interno del testo ...

A quanto sembra IN TUTTA LA SERIE 7 dei Catalyst non c'è stato questo "grande supporto" per noi possessori di 1950 o 1650 ...

Finally I got an answer from ATI tech about the support of AGP card with Catalyst: ================================================== ========= Sir, As AGP became obsolete (due to the PCI-e card), the driver supporting AGP will be update 4 times a year (every 3 months). To be honest, it was said that the 7.11 should suport AGP, and it hasn't, so I can't tell you for sure if the next catalyst, 7.12, will support AGP, even if it should. The company policy, though, is to keep supporting it, on a 3months basis. Thanks & regards


There's been several people who contacted telephone support directly and were promised fixes over the last few months for 7.10, then 7.11, now 7.12.
I wouldn't hold my breath over the rumour of a 7.12 fix based on that knowledge base entry I linked to earlier. That can easily be read as a fix purely for the 2600, and purely for it's video acceleration. As there's been no comment from anyone officially linked with driver development, or even an admission of a problem to be fixed, I'm not hopeful.
Looks like it's back to the bad old days of ATI driver development when you didn't know if drivers were going to work or not.
I mean look at this BS answer posted on AMD's own forums

If this is true, I sure those people who bought brand new AGP 2600s a couple of months ago should rightfully be fuming. If it's not true, then ATI support is clueless or lying to it's customers, just like when they were closing fault reports on these broken drivers with "use earlier drivers".

io con gli omega mi trovavo bene, ma ieri sera ho dovuto smadonnare 3 ore per far partire UT3...e alla fine erano i driver....ho rimesso i 7.7....adesso il gioco parte, ma nn so perchè la grafica è scandalosa...ho una 1950pro agp 512M

Tira su a tecca l'opzione del gioco "Percentuale schermo da renderizzare"

Si già fatto, messo al max....la grafica è migliorata un po ma resta comunque una vera chiavica penosa....sembra pure che i filtri nn fungano per nulla.....a 1280*1024 si vedono delle linee seghettate esagerate.

pensa che chi ha comprato la 2600 (io per esempio) si deve moddare i drivers...

Sembrano usciti i nuovi driver...

Stamattina stavo girando per caso per il sito dell'ATI e li ho trovati (ieri sera avevo provato ad installare la versione 7.11) e ho ottenuto solo continui crash (con l'accelerazione 3D).

Ma perchè ut non ha regolazione per l'antialiasing....dovresti forzarlo dal pannello della scheda....

Sostanzialmente il problema è con i giochi nuovi....magari pensano che con crysis e giochi recenti non ne valga la pena....

Ragazzi stasera provo questi ultimi driver, se non mi riconosce la scheda (hd2600 agp) bombardo il supporto tecnico, ma soprattutto se è confermato che neanche questi riconoscono la scheda credo sia il caso di fare in modo di tenere questa discussione in rilievo , forse anche nel forum dei consigli per gli acquisti, visto che ogni utente deve essere a conoscenza di questa situazione per poi decidere se acquistare o meno schede ati agp.

io con la X1950XT AGP ho messo sempre gli ultimi driver disponibili dai 7.2 in avanti e hanno sempre funzionato tutti secondo me è solo un buggino per la PRO e non del discorso AGP altrimenti anche io sarei nella vostra stessa zuppa
