RELEASE NOTES

New Features

This release of Catalyst™ introduces an enhanced version of ATI Overdrive for the ATI Radeon™ HD 2600 Series and ATI Radeon™ HD 2400 Series. Users can now Over-clock both GPU engine and graphics memory clock speeds in Crossfire™ mode (and over-clock single ATI Radeon™ graphics accelerators as well). This version of ATI Overdrive also includes a new stress test application to verify any over-clocking speeds users may have configured (either manually or through the auto-tuning tool) on their ATI Radeon™ graphics accelerators.
Note: In CrossFire™ configuration, the OverDrive 5.0 test application will run only on first GPU and any unlinked GPUs. As a consequence auto-tuning of linked adapters will not be available in the Radeon™ 8.40 software driver release. Also, the Manual Test button will be grayed out if the selected GPU is Slave. Missing support is due to a limitation in current driver implementation and will be resolved in upcoming driver release.

Performance Improvements

The following performance improvements are noticed with Catalyst™ 7.8:

* Lost Planet DX10 with anti-aliasing improves 11% or greater on Radeon™ HD2900XT products
* Radeon™ HD2600 and Radeon™ HD2400 (single and CrossFire™) show improvements of as much as 6% in 3DMark 2006 and 3DMark 2005
* Serious Sam 2 with HDR enabled improves as much as 14.5% on Radeon™ HD2900, Radeon™ HD2600 and Radeon™ HD2400 products

ATI's Folding@Home

Folding@Home is a distributed computing project designed by the Stanford University. The application performs intensive simulations of protein folding. This simulation will help researchers uncover how certain diseases develop. io ho provato lost planet dx 9 a 1280x960 senza AA e senza ombre e il resto al massimo e con i 7.7 facevo 67 fps mentre con i 7.8 faccio 69 fps.
Ho provato BF2 con i 7.8 e girava bene,lo proverò più approfonditamente per vedere se mi stuttera come i 7.7

Mi sta che stanno via via abbandonando il supporto alle vecchie Radeon (la mia è la 9800 Pro 128MB)...pazienza..anche se mi riempie il registro eventi di errori penso che li terrò..forse.

Ha me questa versione come quella precedente mi da dei problemi col benq 24''. Ogni volta che avvio il computer e arriva al deskop lo schermo fa sparire l'immagine per poi ricomparire pochi secondi dopo questo lo fa fino a quando non spengo e riaccendo il monitor

Si vedono solo le scritte, ma le icone di qualsiasi cosa non ci sono, alcune appaiono se ci clicco sopra, la maggior parte delle altre no.
E poi, se riavvio, al successivo accesso mi ritrovo in 640x480x4bit e sebbene possa impostare tutte le risoluzioni che voglio e profondità di colore, qualcosa lo ributta sempre a quella risoluzione con quei non-colori.
Ho dovuto rimettere i 7.7, CON SUCCESSO.

Comunque ho letto in un altro forum che c'è gente che ha avuto il medesimo problema ma al riavvio era andato tutto a posto.

Li ho messi anche io sul pc in sign ed ho avuto problemi, al riavvio sono scomparse le icone sia del desktop che del menu avvio e con un nuovo riavvio lo schermo si è impostato a 640x480....
Mi tocca togliererli
