The birth:

In 1981 Joey DeMaio is a Black Sabbath?s roadie and Ross ?The Boss? Funiciello is a guitarist of Shakin' Street (a Black Sabbath support band). Joey DeMaio speaks with the singer of Black Sabbath Ronnie James Dio and says that he don?t likes his work for the band. Always in 1981 DeMaio decides to build a band with Ross. They decide to call this band Manowar. This name is an abbreviation of ?man of war?. The Manowar are a Heavy Metal band and its sound is ispireds to Conan the barbarian.
They need a singer and they choose Eric Adams, a good metal singer.
The fourth member is Karl Kennedy, a drummer, but he leaves the band after the first Manowar?s demo. The substitute is Donnie Hamzik.
At the end of the year the Manowar release its first demo. This demo contains a beautifull song: ?Battle Hymns?, it is a great success. The Manowar became a support Band, but the operation with this band continued only for a short time because the sound of Manowar is too power and this removes space to the others bands. For this reason the Manowar make a mini tour.

During their career they are changed four member and now only two old member are in the band: the singer Eric Adams and the founder Joey DeMaio. Eric Adams has a very good voice, it is very epic. In their history they are released 10 albums, 2 live and many other demo/collection/special edition.
The first album is released in 1982 and the last is ?Warriors Of The World? 2002. This album was released 6 year after the last. The two best album are ?Hail To England? and ?Sign Of The Hammer? both of 1984.
