Please smbody help me!!!Installed Ubuntu,lost Windows and can't find my data

Plese help me.I know that is a common problem ,i tried so hard to solve it alone but i did not succed.
I had like OS Windows XP,i i installed Kubuntu.I partitioned in this way:from my 250 GB i allocated 10 GB to swap area ubuntu,18 GB for Linux file systems and about 220 GB i left it free,thinking that there all my file will be save.But after i restart no WIndows boot appear,and i don't find any more my data.All my photos about 16 GB are there,all mmy life inside so plese help me to recover it

may be you can try to recovere the old partition table through testdisk tool, you find it in the live cd of gparted.
be careful, you must study well before to try. every change in your hd could find impossible a future recovery data.
try it is your risk.

una live e un fdisk -l rivelerebbe ciò che resta delle partizione.

anyway: boot a live linux CD and in terminal write: disk -l as Kernelex suggested.

This should show the -still present on disk- partition and files.

I solved similar ad worse problems (partition formatted) in the past with a data recovery program.
I used getdataback , it's worth its price and you can run it from a "live" stripped down win xp.

there are similar tools under linux, but if you are not familiar with them I think it should be much more easier this way on a windows environment.
