usa anche
man bash
man test

quando hai qualche dubbio con i comandi bash. La shell in linux (bash è la più usata) è qualcosa di molto più complesso che in windows.


Comunque, in questo caso non hai proprio neanche provato ad apire man ls, dato che:

NAME
       ls - list directory contents

SYNOPSIS
       ls [OPTION]... [FILE]...

DESCRIPTION
       List information about the FILEs (the current directory by default).  Sort entries alphabetically if none of -cftuSUX nor --sort.

       Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too.

       -a, --all
              do not ignore entries starting with .

       -A, --almost-all
              do not list implied . and ..

       --author
              with -l, print the author of each file

       -b, --escape
              print octal escapes for nongraphic characters

find -type d -maxdepth 1
Senza maxdepth ti elenca l'intero albero delle directory.

nb restituisce anche "." (la directory corrente)
