Io ho avuto sia la voodoo1, sia la voodoo2 sia la voodoo3.
La 1 e la 2 le ho vendute in corrispondenza al passaggio alla generazione successiva. La 3 la conservai (il modello 3500, con sintonizzatore TV!!!), mettendola nel muletto, fino al giorno in cui l'alimentatore non è saltato mandandola in fumo insieme al resto del computer l'anno scorso
Cmq la sua "carcassa" resta nel cassetto, in memoria di quello che fu

Cmq, quelli erano decisamente altri tempi, soprattutto in quanto ad entusiasmo attorno al mercato dei videogiochi per pc.
All'epoca il pc non doveva temere più di tanto la concorrenza delle console, visto che i due ambienti erano specializzati in generi di giochi differenti, e si riferivano ad un target di utenti molto diversi.
Oggi, e già da quale anno, c'è una sorta di atmosfera di imminente fallimento dell'intero mercato dei videogiochi per pc che non sopporto...

Yesterday we already reported that the virtual model for NVIDIA's new top of the line product series technology demo will be the outspoken Adrianne Curry. In her Blogs she has shown two pictures of the actual virtual model as likely being rendered real-time with the new G80 architecture. Now .. look closely at the photo's and you'll notice they have been scanned so it's definitlely not to be considered an "end-product" screen-capture.

Virtual Me
I had to show everyone this. I have become not only "the face" but an animated virtual version of myself! A company called Nvidia has just hadf a break through with virtual people. I get to show the world come October what that is. I would love to explain, but all the people that put hours of hard work into this deserve the spotlot. When they do bring it out, there will be a walking/talking/dancing virtual me! It was fun to do it. I had to go get taped by over 700 camera's. They put small reflective dots all over my face, neck, and body. I had to move, catwalk, talk, ect. This is all top of the line stuff. I have some stills from the Nvidia boys (who fucking ROCK by the way) enjoy!

Okay I picked the wrong Playboy bunny ! Hey don't shoot the messenger. But we figured out who the virtual model for the G80series is. It's the star of VH1's series My Fair Brady spilled the beans in her blog.

She's the girl Nvidia hopes will put it on the front of major and lifestyle magazines all over the world. Or at least, in the Americas. Adrianne will be visiting NVIDIA's GeForce LAN3 event and G80 Launch event on the November 8th, and the second autograph session will take place in Los Angeles on the 11th.

I wish I could give more details, but I can’t. Nvidia, the people who made the “virtual me”,(I blogged about it and included pictures) are coming out with the new software (which is in my image) November 8th. I will be flying up to North Cali to watch it all go down.

I will also be doing an Autograpgh signing here in LA for them on the 11th of November. I can’t wait to see this shit, it’s just too wild!

Il mercato dei videogiochi per pc difficilmente andrà a fallire, un pò per il mercato di hardware dedicato come schede video high end e mainstream a cui si sono aggiunte recentemente schede dedicate alla gestione della fisica, che genera un giro d'affari non indifferente, un pò per un folto numero di appassionati che hanno nell'aggiornamento del pc un hobby quasi fine a se stesso; non che questi ultimi non giochino ma la ricerca delle più alte prestazioni possibili spesso va al di là del necessario per una buona esperienza videoludica.

E' anche vero che cmq il mercato dei videogiochi per pc si è ridimensionato rispetto ai tempi di 3dfx, per una maggiore concorrenza del mercato delle console.

Comunque (scherzi a parte) tecnicamente e' molto piu' complicato per ovvie ragioni... un drago sebbene sia complesso nelle sue parti e' un personaggio inventato e non deve necessariamente essere realistico perche' illustrazioni a parte non esiste una base di confronto. Un essere umano invece e' "la peggior cosa" da renderizzare per mostrare il fotorealismo poiche' per quanto buono sia, non si puo' ancora avvicinare ad essere confuso in foto con una persona vera.

LA PROTAGONISTA della serie americana My Fair Brady, Adrianne Curry, sarà la ragazza che Nvidia spera di veder comparire sulle copertine dei giornali di tutto il mondo, o almeno in america, per il lancio della G80.

Nvidia ha dovuto lavorare parecchio e perfino clockare l'array da 128 shader a 1,35 GHz per essere in grado di rendere Adrianne in modo fotorealistico.

L'attrice visiterà l'evento Nvidia GeForce LAN 3 e sarà presente al lancio della G80 l'8 novembre, e una seconda sessione di autografi avrà luogo l'11 a Los Angeles

Certo che se fra ben 5 anni con questa evoluzione, il fotorealismo diventerà veramente come in foto, sempre se si segue questo trend .
