Punti salienti, su Intel:
- i5 7640K (base +200mhz, turbo ?, TDP 100W) e 7740K (base +100mhz, turbo ?, TDP 100W) sono le cpu cui si riferivano i tweet di CanardPC. - le cpu al momento sono in fase di test/validazione: la decisione di metterle sul mercato non è ancora stata presa, ma Intel vuole tenersi pronta. - se Intel a settembre non era preoccupata che Ryzen potesse essere un serio competitor, dopo le ultime preview di in attesa del lancio del 2 marzo, lo è diventata: si stanno finalizzando dei tagli di prezzo delle cpu Intel "per evitare figuracce". - PS la presenza dell'HT sul modello i5 non è ancora confermata. Su Ryzen: - "Come abbiamo scritto nei nostri articoli, il clock base di Ryzen 4c dev'essere tra i 3.8 e i 4.2 per competere con Intel, mentre al momento i sample quasi finali hanno un clock base di 3.2. Cosa sorprendente, perchè invece entrambi gli 8 core raggiungono 3.4/3.8 e 3.6/4.0 (base/turbo). Last Fall, Intel marketing team showed slides about future AMD zen-based CPU (Ryzen). The goal was to calm down commercials and give them arguments to answer their clients' questions. Long story short, they claimed they didn't have anything to fear from Zen (especially performance). Since then, things have changed. Latest previews confirm that Ryzen - which will be officially announced March 2nd - are a serious threat toward Intel domination. Intel communication services are now desperate to avoid the humiliation that a i7 6900k (1200€) competitor for a much cheaper price would be. Price adjustments become mandatory and are being finalized. Nevertheless, it's a last chance solution giving away an incontestable weakness. In the whole price range, the counter-attack is being organized. Kaby Lake on its last legs against Ryzen According to one of our sources, Intel is making samples for several new quad-core Kaby Lake-based CPU. Hyperthreading on 7640K After publication, several sources got in contact about these informations. They all confirm i7 7740K and i5 7640K existance, but we're receiving contradictory informations about Hyperthreading on i5 7640K. Our same should be there by the end of the week, we'll confirm whether the functionnality is there along with all technical specifications. First is the Core i7 7740K. It features 8MB L3 cache, 4.30GHz base clock (100MHz more than i7 7700K) with a higher TDP (>100W against 91W). Turbo clock is unknown, but should logically be 4.60GHz. Next is the Core i5 7640K. At first glance it looks like a Core i5 7600K "speed bump": Quad core, 6MB L3 cache, 4.0GHz base clock against 3.8GHz for the 7600K. TDP will be rising above 100W as well. But there's something way more interesting: i5 7640K would feature working SMT (Hyperthreading), a first for a desktop Core i5. This would deeply challenge the way the "Core" are split. Until now, the lack of this feature was the difference between Core i5 and i7. SMT ? HT ? Hyperthreading is Intel's commercial name for its SMT (Simultaneous MultiThreading) implementation. This technology allows a physical core to be recognized as two logical cores to improve compute unit efficiency. A 4 core CPU with HT/SMT would be perceived by the OS and applications as a 8 core CPU. Depending on applications, gains can reach 15%. Of course, some similar evolution happened between Pentium and Core i3 with dual-core: Kaby Lake-based Pentium now have Hyper-Threading while it used to be only for i3. HT Coming to Core i5 really seems like a last minute decision, most probably to answer the Ryzen CPUs. Those benefits from SMT with almost every CPU, only a single quad-core not featuring it. We should soon get access to a Core i5 7640K, which should allow us to confirm the informations, and give more details about turbo clocks. With how agitated Intel seems, and depending on the actual Ryzen reviews, other units could come fast to add to those CPU. (TLNote: I don't get how this sentence fits logically with what's to come, even in french.) On the opposite, Intel is currently testing i5 7640K and i7 7740K with their big customers but does not guarantee they'll be up for sale. Intel wants to be able to answer almost immediately (a few days) in case AMD changes plan at the last minute. However CPU validation takes time, especially when they implement major changes like activating HT on Core i5. 4C/8T CPU having wider availability mid-range is however a great news for the consumers. Evidence of a concrete benefit of a healthy competition, missing for too long. Quad-core Ryzen still looking for MHz. Hope for Intel ? Santa Clara's giant hadn't anticipated performance reached by Zen. Nevertheless, Intel is not buried yet. New AMD CPUs are clearly a threat with higher-end (6,8, 10 cores) pricing. With high clock, SMT and core count, higher-end Ryzen have excellent performance on multi-threaded application, IE able to use all the available cores. For anything else, especially quad-core and video games, latest informations we've got are creating doubts. As we wrote in our article, Ryzen quad-core base clock must be between 3.8GHz and 4.2GHz to efficiently rival Intel range. And we're far from it. Current, almost final, samples have a 3.2GHz base clock limit. It's extremely lacking, and surprising since both 8 cores reach 3.4/3.8 and 3.6/4.0 (TLNote: Base Clock/Turbo Clock). Why such a low clock on quad-core while octo-core go much higher ? We can think an especially fast Turbo mode will improve things, but we have no information toward it. We currently only have access to the 6 and 8 core B Stepping Ryzen and we don't know 4 core B Stepping turbo clock. We can risk ourselves to a comparison. Betwween A0 and B, Turbo mode clock for octo-cores gained 400 MHz, from 3.6GHz to 4GHz. With A0 stepping, quad-core were highest clocked at 3.4GHz (2.9GHz base clock). With B Stepping, Quad-core Ryzen should be clocked around 3.8GHz. It's nowhere near enough to rival the next i5 7640K for instance. This seems especially weird since AMD seems able to sell higher-clocked octo cores, proving the architecture can reach higher clock. So what ? (TLNote: anglais dans le texte) Yield trouble with GF 14nm ? Vocabulary Yield is the ratio between made dies and functionnal dies. A die is the piece of silicon containing a CPU. It's obtained after cutting the wafer (great silicon disc containing hundreds of dies). A possible yield issue with Globalfoundries 14nm process could very well explain this situation. We now know that first 4 and 6 cores Ryzen will be based on non-working 8 cores Ryzen, AMD having planned to be able to disable several cores easily, whether they are or not on the same CCX. Perfectly conscious with Ryzen having the most demand on release, AMD could logically choose to recycle at best its failing dies by disabling some cores ... and lowering clocks. Cores in dies can be failing in two ways: either they're not working, or they're not stable at base clock. By releasing CPUs which half the cores are disabled and which, on top of that, have low clock, AMD can recycle the most failing dies and limit its financial impact. On the long run, this situation is not fine. The Wow Effect AMD is looking to create with its beefiest Ryzen chip won't be able to hide for long the disappointing performances for most of the range (if clocks don't change until launch). End of NDA and first official reviews will give a taste of the situation: if AMD only gives journalists its 8C/16T 3.6GHz/4.0GHz chip, forgetting the 4C versions, it will be a bad sign. Then if the issues are confirmed, they may strongly impact the chip mass availability ... or lead to a much higher than anticipated price point. AMD has however not many options for its production since it doesn't own any fab. Still a last resort possibility: leave Globalfoundries (or at least find another foundry to work with at the same time). Strange coincidence, AMD would be negociating with ... Samsung. Ma quanto di vero c'è in quell'articolo?
Perché sarebbe tutto positivo per chi aspetta Ryzen (prodotto competitivo) ed i consumatori in generale. Ma poi la data del 2 Marzo da dove l'han tirata fuori? E' veritiera? Il 3 posso fare l'ordine su amazon?

Comunque a me sembra stiano affinando di più le sku, quindi è sicuro che adesso ci sarà un 4c/8t, 2x8c/16t, 4c/4t in produzione e un 6c/12t secondo CanardPc... |

Se ti serve un dissipatore basso puoi guardare il dark rock tf della be quiet, noctua nh-c14s, etc. ma non saprei fino a che punto puoi montarli sull'am4. |
