Help per fleshare un bios di un portatile

Non so se in questa sezione sono OT, ma pur sempre di una scheda madre si tratta, quindi... in caso lo fossi pregherei un mod di spostare la discussione nella area IT...grazie....

allora, veniamo al problema, ho un vecchio Acer travelmate 525, vorrei cambiare il suo vecchio HD da 9Gb e 4200rpm con uno da 40Gb e 5400rpm, volevo però prima aggiornare il bios, ma non riesco a portare a termine l'operazione....questo è il .TXT allegato all'ultimo bios disponibile per questo pc:

I. INTRODUCTION

This utility is designed to perform BIOS reflashing
to an upper version for Falcon system :

II. PREPARING A BOOTABLE BIOS REFLASH DISK AND USE IT

There may be two types of source you will get:

.A ZIP package file, or
.A source disk with uncompressed files

Step 1. Create a bootable disk.

Step 2. Copy the following files to that bootable disk.

.ANSI.SYS
(You can find this file in \windows\command or \windows)

General Syntax:

copy [source path] [destination path]

1. copy ansi.sys a:\

Step 3. Decompress the ZIP file to this bootable disk if you get a ZIP
package,or copy all the files to the bootable disk if you get a
source disk.

Step 4. Put the bootable disk into Falcon series mobile, then boot.

III. USING THE ACER FALCON BIOS REFLASH DISK

# NOTICE !! Important !! #
# " Do not power off during a BIOS update. Otherwise your system #
# may be damaged " #

A. After Booting, You will see the massage like this (BIOS Version
may be different):

ACER Falcon 2.5
BIOS Flash Service Diskette
BIOS Version A4C


This utility updates the system program to the current level.

Press <1> to continue, <0> to exit.

Do not power off during a BIOS update. Otherwise your system may
be damaged.

B. If you are ready to reflash BIOS, press "1", Otherwise press "0".
If you press "1", the reflash utility will check if this machine
is Acer Falcon series. If yes, You will see this massage:

ACER Falcon 2.5
BIOS Flash Service Diskette

>> Warning <<
Continuing with this process will install downlevel system
program than currently installed in the system.
If unsure, do not continue.

Press <1> to continue, <0> to exit."

C. Press "1" to make sure again. The BIOS reflash utility will
re-check your system and begin to update your BIOS to version
a00.

D. If the BIOS reflash is done successful, you will see:

ACER Falcon 2.5
BIOS Flash Service Diskette

System BIOS has been updated successfully.
Remove your service Diskette from Disk Drive.
Turn off the power and restart the system.

E. Turn off power by power button, (not Ctl+Alt+Del) and next
power on will be booting at BIOS version a00.

IV.Error massages:

A. HardWare Error

BIOS Flash Service Diskette

A hardware error occurred.

B. BIOS Update Program Error

System BIOS update program has been cancelled.
Turn off the power and restart the system.

allora, quale è il problema? io ho formattato un floppy con l'opzione crea disco di avvio MS-DOS, ci ho copiato il file ansi.sys che facendo un cerca, in WinXP, ho individuato in system32 (sul .TXT invece indicano in \windows\command or \windows), infine ci ho scompattato il .ZIP del bios, ma quando riavvio con boot da floppy mi appare il messaggio di errore DOS mi pare nel file ansi.sys....(dopo riprovo e vi do il msg esatto)

possibile che l'ansi.sys di WinXP sia diverso da quello di Win98?
oppure è il floppy di avvio creato con XP che non va bene? a tal proposito ho provato ad usare anche un floppy di boot creato con Win98, ma non riesco a copiare il contenuto del .ZIP del BIOS perchè non c'è sufficiente spazio....anche cancellando i vari .sys dei driver dei cdrom non c'entra...

qualcuno mi sa dire dove sbaglio?
