In caso di problemi con il flashing del bios ho trovato su un newsgroup le seguenti informazioni:

Reprogramming a Boot Block BIOS

This article is a brief description of how to reprogram a Boot Block
BIOS.

Why Have a Boot Block BIOS?

A boot block BIOS permits a system to boot even if the remaining BIOS
codes are corrupted. Users just need to attach a floppy disk drive to the
system and prepare a bootable diskette to restore the BIOS to the flash
memory chip.

How to Restore Boot Block BIOS

To restore a boot block BIOS, you need the following:

1. A floppy disk drive connected to the target system

2. One bootable diskette with three files:

* The Award Software flash upgrade utility, AWDFLASH.EXE
* An Award Software BIOS binary file (2xxxxxxx.BIN) for the target
system
* AUTOEXEC.BAT file containing the line awdflash 2xxxxxxx.bin /Py /Sn

3. Optional ISA/VESA VGA card in the target system. Boot block code does
not support PCI VGA, so a system with a PCI VGA card runs the program
without a display.

Boot the system from the bootable diskette. The system then runs
AWDFLASH.EXE according to the line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file,
reprogramming the BIOS into the flash memory.

Beep Codes

1. During the procedure:

Two short error beeps No bootable diskette in drive A
Continual short error beeps No floppy disk drive

2. After programming finishes, long beeps sound continually until you
reset the system.

AWDFLASH.EXE now contains these error-protection features

File Checking Mechanism

The file name of AwardBIOS binary files is usually derived from the BIOS
serial number. Because one file name resembles another, you may confuse
binary file names when updating several different systems.

To help you avoid the possibility of updating a system BIOS with the
wrong binary file, AWDFLASH.EXE version 5.33 and above issues a warning
message if the program detects a mismatch between the BIOS binary file
and the system board.

If a mismatch is detected, the following message appears when the user
responds YES to the program prompt to flash the BIOS:

The program file's part number does not match with your system

This warning message appears only if the binary file name you specified
in the program differs from the existing file in your system.

If you receive this message, check carefully to ensure that you have the
correct binary file for your system.

You can bypass checking the serial number by typing the following at the
DOS command line:

Awdflash 2Axxxxxx.BIN /Py

The /Py switch immediately flashes the new binary file to the BIOS EPROM.

Selecting Correct Flash ROMs

The AwardBIOS supports both 1-MB and 2-MB flash memory chips. However,
you may encounter unpredictable errors during execution of the flash
utility if you attempt to program a 1-MB binary file into a 2-MB flash
memory chip. Always match a 1-MB binary file with a 1-MB flash memory
chip, and likewise match a 2-MB binary file with a 2-MB flash memory
chip.

Flash Memory Status

Two kinds of reporting messages may appear on the screen after the System
Configuration Table that appears before system boot-up:

Message 1: "ESCD Update….. Succeed"
Message 2: "ESCD Update……….."

Whenever ESCD data is created or changed, Message 1 above indicates the
process is successful. A message that does not contain the word succeed
(e.g., Message 2) indicates a mismatch among the flash memory chip, BIOS,
and hardware.

Volevo sapere se qualcuno ha provato a eseguire questa procedura, se funziona o no e soprattuto se funziona anche con i bios PHOENIX perchè è proprio con una di esse che ho il problema
